Hey, guys. I was trying to get an electronic flasher in my truck to get rid of hyperblinking and took some pics in case anyone is wondering where the flasher should be located, though im not sure if it's in the same place for 2001-2004.

First, you have to remove the whole panel under the steering wheel and disconnect the hood latch handle.

Once there I removed the 2 bolts holding the fuse block, carefully maneuvered it out of it's little spot, hung it down and was able to get directly to the flasher this way. It is sort of a pain to move that big block of wires around since it's so cramped, but it's doable.

This first pic shows the hidden bolt. There's another bolt on the bottom right of the fuse box, but that's easy to get to.

These next 2 images show a mounting tab and slot that the whole box kinda rests in. This first pic you can see the little "catch" on the bottom left of that slanted piece. That little piece goes into the square hole on the bracket in the center of the second pic. The box will not move freely until you unhook it from that little mounting bracket. Doesn't take any force to remove it, just kinda sits in there.

That lighter gray relay in the center is the flasher. Notice there's a small clip/bay for something just down right of the flasher. There was another tiny 2 fuse block that slid in there, can't be seen but just want you guys to have a heads up that it could be there on your models.

I also have a lot of extra wires in there cause of my Viper alarm/remote starter. Essentially all of the drama on the right side of the last pic and a little in front of the fuse block are all aftermarket for the alarm. You don't have to expect that wiring to be there.

    Cheers!

Ummmm.... this is kind of like saying to check the air in your tires you need to start by removing the pistons from your engine. It takes about 2 seconds to change a flasher in a 2000. You don't have to remove a single screw to access it.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
I just reach my hand around and look through the inspection hole. New relay that is led compatible was 12.99 at Autozone for anyone interested. It is the Novita/Tridon EP-35

Turn on your flashers, reach behind the panel and feel for the clicking relay. Is at the top left (as you face it). Almost impossible to confuse it with any other part. I was reading my email at the same time as i swapped it.
