Hello guys I was needing your assistance. I have a 2nd gen 2007 taco which I'm trying to purchase a skid plate for. I found one for an FJ Cruiser and I am wanting to see if anyone knows if it'll be compatible with my truck. I've included some photos. I've seen some threads where the taco has the same type of skid plate just not sure if it's the same. Any help is greatly appreciated. They should fit, since they are the same front end. Best way to check is to look the part number up and see if it cross checks between a Tacoma an FJ. I have one from a Tacoma you can have if you’re local to New Jersey.

There is a sub piece (stamped metal) that goes between the FJ “skid plate” and the frame. I can’t remember if that sub plate is required as I took them off in 2007 when I replaced everything with Bud Built skids. The FJ skid you are looking at is not very substantial, lightweight aluminum...not sure if fits on a Tacoma. Kinda funny, I have the FJ skid, sub assembly plate and original hardware sitting out in my shed. I also have a 2nd Gen Tacoma and never considered trying to install that FJ skid on the Tacoma. For what it’s worth I still have my 2007 FJ (original owner). I would pass on that FJ skid if it’s not too late.

No problem, good luck! I just did a quick search and it looks like the skid is different, so I'm not sure the TRD skidplate would interchange. I'm sure you could drill a couple holes and improvise if they don't completely line up though!

Thank you for your responses. I really do appreciate it. I haven't pulled the trigger yet, got out of work late and didn't feel comfortable meeting so late. I'll keep on searching for a good deal.

I think the 4runner and fj have the same skid plate configurations. At least it seems that way when I see them at work.

in my brief searching in the last hour, it appears that way. 4runner/FJ share same skid and tacoma has it's own design. They could be close enough where if it's a good deal might be worth getting, but without seeing each one side by side no way to tell.

I did read a couple of threads that mentioned the fj and 4runner being compatible bc of the same front end. It's the tacoma that I was unsure about.
