    Hey all!

Just got this 2014 tacoma and it’s the truck of my dreams!

The only issue I have that I’d like to fix is the paint on the dash is worn/rubbed away from some sort of phone mount. It’s really not horrible but I’ll be dammed if don’t just stare at it with a frown every time I jump in the rig!

Any factory paint touch up suggestions or ideas welcome!

    thanks!!

I’d find a really good upholstery repair shop and get some ideas from them. Many of them carry products for just this issue and should be able to give some great ideas or do it for you. Good luck.

I’d try some RIT dye instead of paint and touch up only the worn areas.

    Beautiful truck!
    I have the same color.

Install a 2TPAM from expedition essentials and you wont ever have to look at it again
At least thats what I did
And yes I had the same problem lol

Ask at a dealer they should be willing to give you a contact number. They have people they use just for this type of problem. It is painted.

My dash paint was peeling near the defroster vent. There is a TSB for an updated part number and while my truck already had the updated part number (according to the VIN), I ordered a new dashboard.
If you don't want to spend the money, look into products by SEM.

I have a dash cover from Costco. You can special order them for exact vehicles for a perfect fit. I have a black one that looks good. I can snap a pic if you want.

Same problem on my truck. Previous owner added a dash pad it looks like and the adhesive took off paint in multiple areas. I don't understand people's obsessions with dash pads. They typically do more damage than good in my experience. And replacement dashes are EXPENSIVE so ruining one so you can install a $20 dash pad just seems dumb as can be.

Ranting aside... I've been wondering about using Dupliclor Vinyl & Fabric Coating. I've used it before on interiors with pretty good luck. But, I'm guessing I wouldn't be able too apply it in spots and blend it well which means I'd need to remove and paint the whole dash to make it even. It's likely the SEM product is a better option though. I may need to order some of this to have on hand. https://www.66autocolor.com/SEM-Color-Coat-Interior-Paint-p/sem-15.htm

Thank you! I’ll be making the call tomorrow! Really as this is the only issue i can find with the truck I’m ok with forking over some dough to have it look perfect!

Right on man! I’m going to check with the dealer and let you know my results. I also agree about the dash pads, i wasn’t a fan before and I’m sure as shit not now haha
