I was driving along and felt something pop (thinking I just caught my shoe on the clutch) when I shifted gears not realizing at the time a bolt fell from somewhere until I went to start my truck to leave. There is no clear view of where it came from, and when I went to start my truck I was unable to do so. Thankfully I can bypass the clutch start with my clutch start cancel button. I’m just now wondering what I should do or look for to fix this issue and find out if y’all may know how this bolt would have just worked it’s way out of wherever it goes ?
Thank you for any feedback or helpful tips.

That's a very common bolt for Toyota's so it could have came from anywhere, since your having an issue with the clutch safety switch I'd start by looking in that area.
It should be on the firewall side of the clutch pedal bracket behind the clutch pedal about midway up.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
It is also possible it came from the clutch pedal bracket allowing it to move enough the clutch safety switch does not close.

How it came out vibrations over the years the movement of the clutch over the years who knows it may have only been hand tighten.

Also possibly from the Glove Box. I had a bolt just like that fall out and found a few years ago. Can't find it now but it went to the top of the glove box because the bolt is missing when I replaced the ECU.

That is exactly where it came from! I was able to get under there and put it back in and tighten it back up.

    Thank you all :)

Everything is working just as it should after finding where the bolt fell from and getting it back in the right spot.

Me too! And now I’m a lot more familiar with all that is under where the pedals are in my truck, never had a reason to look before. Thanks everyone :) I was so happy after getting it screwed back in at a not so easy angle/place to get to and for it to start up like a charm.

I didn't find any bolts on my floor, but my clutch start switch has been been good in warm weather and intermittent in the cold for a few years. This morning I had to drive a Miata to work -- the Tacoma wasn't going to even try to start. This afternoon I told that switch "you have failed me for the last time." Going through my connectors I found a spade terminal that would plug right into that switch connector, after pulling it from the switch. I forgot if I ended up using the #8 or #6 size. Then I tucked the wire up into the harness under the dash so it would be out of the way. One less part to break, I've driven far to many old cars to need that thing anyway.

I found in another thread a schematic for the starter wiring on the 4 cylinder first generation Tacoma.
