I can't wait to take my soon to be 3 y/o daughter fishing this year. I don't own a boat so we will be fishing from the banks of some local reservoirs and streams. I wanted a simple set up that would hold the rods securely while we were in transit. This is what my Father and I came up with:

    Materials:

    5/4 board
    2 Berkley rod holders
    2 stainless brackets
    Mounting hardware

My Father has a small metal fabrication business, and he helped me cut and bend the brackets from some scrap stainless steel he had laying around. The angle on the brackets allows the rods to clear the bed extender by about 1.5 to 2 inches. I wanted to leave the bed extender installed, because that leaves a small area of the bed cordoned off where I can secure a cooler, tackle boxes, etc. I run a small strap across the rods, and attach the ends to a set of D-rings I had previously installed in the front of the bed. This simply puts a little pressure on the rods, and somewhat restricts their side to side movement in the rod holders. Finally, I bored a small hole through the 5/4 bored where I can slip a bike cable lock through, and lock the whole thing to the truck. Anyway, I've seen several rod setups posted on TW. I like this setup, and it was a lot of fun working on it with my Dad. Good luck putting together something that works well for your situation.

    Take care

LOL...I'm sorry man. It occurred to me right after I posted that you were probably wanting pics of rod/reel combos. I'm not much help there. I only have a couple of setups, one for trout, and another for panfish and/or trout. Oh well...have a great time fishing!
