So I bought my 2016 TRD Sport at what I thought was a decent price and did not consider that the bed is a short bed. I do a lot of fishing and I make my own rods so I want to protect them but can't keep them flat in the back of the truck due to their size, 6' 3" to 7'.
Has anyone made anything for their truck bed to hold rods up and out the back without having to rest them on the tailgate?

I don't have a roof rack but may end up going with that option and transporting them that way. Thanks for your time, Fishengineer

Here is what I did. It holds the rods flat and main air stream and above the tailgaite so you can still open and close it. Cooler and everything else I need slides in under the bars. Best part is the yakima racks lock so I don't have to worry about them walking off if I stop somewhere.

Just do what KEfarm shows I have been doing that for like 5 years now and have it both on the Truck and the boat that way! never lost a rod nor have damaged any that way.

And Oh so you build Rods? what Blanks you use? ever sell any? I'm a St. Croix Rod Fan and I see that they sell Blanks I just don't have the gear to build a rod...... Yet.
