REAL cowboys and the US cavalry wore square toes back in the 1800's. Round and pointed toes became popular much later. If you look closely at the actors in old western movies almost all of them are wearing square toes, most of those guys from the 20's through the 60's were real cowboys hired to make movies. The pointed toes gave rodeo cowboys a bit of an edge getting their feet into and out stirrups faster but weren't common with working cowboys.

During most of my life square toes were not "in style" and I didn't initially like the look when I started seeing people wearing them a few years ago. Until I did some research and discovered that square was closer to the real thing.

You'll just have to see what fits your foot, but Durango's are the most comfortable I've tried. And they are some of the more reasonably priced.

This is TacomaWorld data center where threads/posts are monitored.

The lock box is an interesting system for members that get in trouble. The number on the box is how many days the ban is and the locks are staff members.

Ok, that is a group Lock Out Tag Out box. :D

I wouldn't say that. The one here has an excellent selection, and the staff were very helpful when I needed to replace my very old boots. They had what I wanted at a decent price.
I don't think I would go to a Tractor Supply to buy boots, though.

I’ve had 3 pairs of Dan Posts, 1 pair of Nacona boots (These were my riding boots) and 1 pair of Tony Llamas for over 40 years. The Dan Post’s were slightly more comfortable but not by much. My favorite pair of boots are Dan Post exotic snakeskin with a #4 Ilk heel. Similar to these but with black uppers. They are the perfect dress boot and are extremely comfortable

Guess I need to follow this thread. When I was just a little feller (3-4yrs old) all I wanted for my bday was a pair of cowboy boots which I was fortunate to receive. Wasn't able to afford anymore while growing up but I'm making up for it now. I've been wearing cowboy work boots for several years. Got a pair of Dan Post dress boots in black cherry for Christmas, have another pair of no name dress boots that feel like walking on legos after about 10 mins on my feet. I'm insanely hard on shoes and normally will wear out a pair of work boots well under a year so I'm always looking for a sale on decent boots.

Wearing a cheap pair of Brothers and Sons boots for work the last couple months, not the most comfortable I've ever had but so far they are doing good for me. Work boots are normally on my feet 12-14 hrs a day. I've worn Ariat, Justin, Cody James, Wolverine, and others.

I also started in my phase of cowboy hats this past summer. Started with a straw hat for the summer, and now I'm up to 3 hats :hattip:(1 straw and 2 wool/felt) As normal for me these are the cheaper line of hats but hey they work to keep my bald head from getting sunburn or frozen. Maybe I should start a cowboy hat thread to not hijack this one :notsure:

I'm thinking of getting a hat too once I pick up a pair of boots. This AZ sun is brutal in the summer.

So I pulled the trigger on a pair. I bought some Ariat Sport Herdsmans. They are pretty comfortable but I did make the mistake of wearing them too long while trying to get them broken in and my left foot really started to hurt on top.

But after not wearing them a few days after that things have settled down and feel better.

I have pretty much those same boots. I wear them daily. As for a hat I only wear them to weddings. Up here in Show Low the only cowboys wearing hats are the old timers. Congrats on the new boots.

Have never had to break in a pair of Tony Lama boots, but have worn some out, after a having new soles a couple of times.
