I just got a new to me 2005 Tacoma. I got this to replace my 1999 that has a bad frame, details in that in the 1st gen section. I am making different posts since the subjects are so different.

I use my truck for working. Depending on the job I am heading to, I carry a lot of tools and often a trailer, either an open 4 x 8 or 6 x 12, or a Haulmark 6 x 12 enclosed trailer. These are loaded with anything from mulch to a full pallet of plywood of other building materials.

I had Firestone Ride-Rite air bags on my '99. Each side was plumbed separate so I could adjust for the weak spring that was on the left side. Always needed about 5 psi extra on that side.

I am going to install something on my 2005. During my new investigation I discovered the SumoSprings. They are about $100.00 cheaper than the Ride-Rites, but there is no adjustability with them.

I prefer my truck to sit level no matter what the load is, how do the sumo springs deal with rear ride height with various loads?

    Other options to consider?

    Thanks

I have the Firestone Ride Rite air bags on my 05 and they are one of my favorite additions on the truck. I love being able to adjust the rear when I have a load but return to a softer ride when it isn't needed. I just use a small bike pump. It would be nice to have the compressor and a switch to control from inside the truck but the cost just doesn't seem worth it to me.

Not sure about the Sumo's, I have the Ride Rite like Coolerman said they level the truck with a load and the best thing is that you can use a bicycle pump to fill them up.

I’m debating on getting the firestone bags or dealing with sag when I got my trailer hooked up. I’m thinking about buying the bullet and getting the bags

Ride rites are the best option for your usage. Sumo are nice for a weekend warrior work truck, but the ride isnt as comfortable compared to the firestones. I loved my ride rites had w/the compressor. It made load leveling a breeze. Well worth the $500 from summit.com. Pair them with an on board air system and it makes inflate time way more better. Just my .02

I guess I will be getting those Ride-Rites on order. I just noticed when looking at the Ride-Rite they have lifetime warranty. One of the bags on my '99 is going bad, I will have to get that replaced for whoever buys it from me.

Bed rug, ARE bed top, Weathertechs. Little goodies here and there!
I have Sumos, and when loaded down, does ride rough. But I don't load that often, more of a mall queen. I see you are already going with the bags, i agree with others that's the right choice for you.

That's a nice set up, I got my bags at SDtruck Springs also.

What psi are you running? Are you running stock leaf springs?

I see you painted the 1 1/8 bolt! I have to do the same, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

I run 8-10 psi empty and they are stock leafs. I might be upgrading shocks and springs at later date.

I have stock leaf springs also, they are flat so when I try to pump to 10psi the truck looks like a hot rod.

I keep it at 5psi so the truck look level but the bags bottoms out.

I don’t think it’s the bags that are bottoming out.

Did you have bottom out problem before you installed air bags?

I would check all nuts and bolts on air bags and make sure they are tight.
