I think these are pretty good tires overall. No complaints after 1 summer of use. The wife thinks they’re a bit loud, but I’d say it’s comparable to a set of studless winter tires. I’d recommend them, especially since the weight is reasonable for an AT tire with good tread depth.

Still doing great, no complaints. Same set. I was running rings around folks yesterday in the snow. I feel like there’s a lot of life left in them still.

Awesome to hear. Like I said I seen them in person on a truck and really like the look. Just amazing the weight of them for a E rated tire.

Getting constant snow and just did a couple thousand km trip through the rockies in the past weeks with snow covered roads. Worked great, won't be buying a set of studded winters, running these year round, awesome grip and decent mileage since they aren't very heavy.
Always in 2wd except for the odd section in town thats straight ice.

Running the XTs on my Tundra. Excellent winter traction. I feel like they have better snow traction than bfg KO and KO2 that I have run in the past.

To say we’ve had some winter weather this year would be an understatement, even for Alaska.

So far this winter we’ve gotten a foot of wet snow, two feet of light fluffy snow, 2-3” of ice that mixed with some wet snow and light snow, and temperatures down to -40. Currently there’s some blown snow on the roads but mostly all of the main roads have 3” of solid ice on top.

The XT’s have performed admirably. They have done about as well as a non winter non studded tire can do on glare ice. They work great in light fluffy snow up to the axles, and are able to dig down to the road surface well. They do pack up with wet snow but with some wheel spin do eventually clean out. And they maintain a round shape even at -40, no lumpy driving like most all-seasons.

I had cooper at3 4s’s before and they were superior in deep wet snow but about equal elsewhere. My XT’s are E rated of course, the 4s are P rated. I’ve also used a variety of winter tires both on my Tacoma and other vehicles including 4 versions of blizzaks, Firestone winterforce 2’s with studs, hankook ipikes studded, and general arctics with studs. The winter tires all perform 5-10% better when new and similar after their first winter.

Anyone have any more updates on these in regards to what actual MPG you're getting with 255/75/17?

Now that gas in CA is over $5 bucks a gallon am definitely looking at switching over from 285/70/17's to a skinny/tall tire. I'd like an aggressive tire lightweight tire.

These Firestone XT's kinda remind me of the Wrangler Duratracts. Lightweight but a lot of meat on them. Although unfortunatley I've researched that with the Duratracts in this size takes a good hit on the MPG.

The weight looks good but am worried the tread pattern might be a little too aggressive that it still take a decent hit on the MPG like the Duratracts.

I have 255/75/17's and keep then 35-37psi. I notices maybe 0.1-0.2 difference if any. I track every fill up and correct for the size. With over 20000mi on them im pretty confident in the numbers. A light headwind causes more impact to milage than these. And now for the data

    upload_2022-3-4_18-3-13.jpg

I run winter tires and as such are subjected to winter gas and long warmups so we will ignore winter months for this comparison. This chart is ALL fill ups since new, currently about 75,000mi
    - The green boxes are stock 265/65/17 destination LE2's all season tires. box 2 is slightly worse because covid started, i was working from home and there were more short city trips.
    - The red box (3) is my season with the destination XT's. still covid driving patterns. this chart does not account for the 5% difference in tire size so you can mentally subtract that amount, about 1mpg.

Thank you, do you know what the average mpg is for a tank?

Also OP you're running 55-70-16 ten ply rated correct?

I can't find the weight of that size but just a guess they might be a little heavier than the 255/75/17.

Thanks for the detailed info appreciate it.

Interesting looks like you were able to get around 23mpg somewhat consistently? Do you know what your tank average mpg was with the Firestone XTs?

Tank average was around 24 normal commuting and such. the dips in the graph are usually camping/offroading or 'fun'.

Close to 20 mpg in warmer weather. As you can see by the graph, cold weather severely affects MPGs.

That's pretty good, basically same mpg as stock yet looks aggressive and more tactical for whatever the road throws at you.

I don't know why but for some reason when I look at pics of the 255/70/17 it looks shorter than 265/70/17 or appears the fender gap is larger. But I know from looking at a tire comparison chart these are a little taller than 265/70/17.

Anyone have any thoughts on this or how satisfied you are with how these fill out the fender gap on a leveled truck?

I'm going to just keep my truck leveled in the front and see how these fill out.

    Screen Shot 2022-03-05 at 8.15.59 AM.jpg

Hoping I can get closer to 24 MPG but even if it's 20mpg on a tank I can probably live with that.

Just got the 255/75/17 Firestone XT's on today.

I think I might have got one of the last one's in stock for now I guess there is a production shortage with the XT's according to Firestone. I tried a bunch of different local tire shops, Firestone stores, and tire specialist like Tirerack.com. They were all out but I happen to stumble across them on Amazon and they surprisingly had them in stock and shipped them to me at separate dates.

They're don't quite fill out as much as the 285/70/17 but am pretty pleased with the looks considering the trade offs. Def looking forward to trying out a skinny tire for the first time. I do think these XT's are the lightest weight most aggressive tire in this size that will relate to better MPG. The duratracts were right around this same weight but I think the tread pattern will effect mpg as others with experience have mentioned.

So far already feels a lot lighter. My only issue is the rims I have (SCS Ray 10's) are 8.5 which is the max width for this size and they bulge out a little more than I'd like. Might be switching to the Pro rims down the road or if anyone has any other suggestions on light weight rims I'm all ears.

Anyways here is the set up on my truck if your considering going this route:

Bumped up to 265/75R16's over the stock Goodyear's. Been a little bit over a year now. Took a small trip with a buddy who still had on the stock tires. Pretty comparable in performance.
These are a great little upgrade while still maintaining OE ride quality. I may have lost 1 MPG in my daily commute?

I mainly like them for the more aggressive tread pattern and SW lugs.
I will be picking up some MT2's in about a year or so.

Just bought a set in the OEM size of 245/75-16. I wanted to do 215/85-16 (same OD but narrower and only 35 lbs!) but they were out of stock so I went with the OEM size which is 39 lbs in an E-load 245/75-16.

Wish I could have gotten them in this size with white letters, oh well.

I think these will be perfect for the 4-cylinder - lots more grip, sturdy but light and have the 3-peak mountain snowflake.

So I think these may have come to the end of their life, mainly due to not rotating them properly, my bad, I guess the dealership wasn't doing it, also my bad for not marking them correctly. I could prove it was their fault as the same bad sensor has been in the front right wheel since I got them but oh well, not gonna go down that road, more of a vent and a reminder for future use.

These have treated me well, got me out of some nasty mud and some nasty snow. I really don't see any reason not to get them again other than I do 120 miles a day on the interstate and they're just not the best for that road environment every day, can't afford to have two sets of wheels right now so I'm not sure which way to go.

Looking at all the pictures of them brand new I can really see how low the tread is on mine! I'll take some pictures for others to get an idea.

    Thanks for all the replies....

Sorry for the flashback but what type of wheels were you running and PSI? Curious.

How many miles did you get out of them, even without the rotations?
