I picked up my 2017 Tacoma yesterday, and I'm looking for the best place to mount my siren and speaker.

If there are other firefighters in here, I'd love to see some pictures of your setup!

We put ours in the front bumper, along with the Federal Q and bell.

Yes. I'm a volunteer, and I run lights and siren from wherever I am, to the station.

I just took a look, and I'm seeing a ton of room behind the grill, and plenty of attachment points for the speaker. Now, to find a good spot in the cab for the siren control box.

That's cool. You must have some kind of super duper insurance for that the kind of use. I started out in the fire service, but decided that shit was too dangerous so I went into law enforcement for 31 years

Im a volunteer in NY, we can have 1 small blue light an no sirens and the blue light is a courtesy only, you must still stop at all traffic lights and obey all signs. What state do you live in?

Oh, your' from arkansas. Technically, you are not suppose to have "mounted" lights. I know people do, though.
Personal Firefighter’s Vehicles As many issues have evolved over the issue of the volunteer firefighter’s ability to exceed the speed limit posted and to use dash-mounted lights, the following are excerpts from the “Arkansas Motor Vehicle and Traffic Laws and State Highway Commission Regulations, 1997 Edition.” This book is published by Michie and is issued by the authority of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department and the Department of Finance and Administration. This is the book that the State Police and all local departments use for traffic law. LIGHTS 27-36-304 Fire department vehicles and ambulances. A. All state, county, city, and municipal or privately owned fire departments, funeral homes, or ambulance companies shall install, maintain, and exhibit red rotating or flashing emergency lights upon all fire department vehicles, automobiles used by fire fighters, and ambulances which are equipped with emergency lighting and operated within Arkansas. Fire fighters shall be allowed to use portable dash mounted red rotating or flashing emergency lights on their privately owned automobiles when responding to a fire or other emergency.

Guy just died recently responding in his car running lights and going too fast. Forget the lights you don't need them. It's not worth pushing people out of the way so you can get to the fire house for a bullshit call

I frequent the SW Arkansas area, they do things different there. It's nothing to see half a dozen personal vehicles at a fire call and one fire truck. They often go straight to the call. However, they are suppose to use dash lights. Some mount them elsewhere. just like other states where people use blue lights and crap, they are suppose to be removable(dash lights) because of law elsewhere the vehicle may go. Like if you have blue lights all over your vehicle, you decide to travel to another state. It is a good possibility you are illegal.

I know this isn't the topic here, but I want to say thank you to all the volunteer firefighters on here. A couple years ago, my mother-in-laws house almost burned down during the drought in Texas. If it hadn't been for the volunteer fire department, it probably would have burned down. The entire surrounding field around their house burned up, and the fire was stopped about 100 feet from their house.

I told USAA that I use my truck to respond to calls, and they said it doesn't affect my insurance at all.

If we use lights, we are required to use siren as well.
