Sorry for the clickbait title. After driving a TRD OR Premium, looking at incoming units and the Tacoma I wanted was $54,000-55,000, therefore:

Started looking at Ranger Raptors, found one in nearby Arkansas at MSRP with $129 doc fee and put the deposit down Monday. CarMax offered $40,000 for my 2022 with 23k miles so sold that this morning.

I feel like Cactus Gray is basically the same as Lunar Rock. I’m prepared for the “ha ha Ford sucks comments”. I’m sticking around here, love Tacoma World, and will give any input on the RR. Only drove 80 miles home today, steering wheel button overload currently. Also no owners manual for Fords? Wtf. Loving the power of the 3.0L.

Maybe if enough former Tacoma owners buy Fords we can get a real truck engine in the Tacoma again at an affordable price

I just have a 5 lug, but it meets or exceeds all my actual needs.

While I may well keep it till they take my license away, one of the grands could con me out of it. Or a snowbird could total it.

Point is, if I needed to shop a replacement, right now a Maverick hybrid would be on my short list.

Ford has been good to me. In addition to my 07 Tacoma I have a 14 F150. I want a new, or newer truck sometime in 2025. If I had to buy right now, I'd buy the Ranger.

LOL, i feel ya. Toyota gets that wheel controls right, not sure what '24 looks like. The new 4cyl combo and price tag not attractive. Looked and found low milage '23 OR southern driven.

Good for you. Fuck Toyota, their prices and their newest SUVs and trucks.

I would buy a Corolla or something if I was in a market for a sedan but that’s about it.

I’m keeping my truck till it disintegrates.

That Raptor looks GREAT and you would feel silly driving a TRD OR for the same price as a Raptor.

    Congrats OP!

If for some reason I was forced to replace my '22 the Ranger Raptor would be at the top of my list. The 3rd gen being available with 3 pedals was the main reason I purchased one, but like you've mentioned for PRO money I'm going Ranger Raptor.

Same here re the 5 lug, though mine is 2WD and only 2 doors but it's what I need.

The MA winters totalled my frame but it was reframed 3 yrs ago.

My friend got a Mav recently, liked it except the fuel filler issue. Called me foaming at the mouth he was trying to add fuel from a gas can and I told him where to look for the supplied nozzle for the capless tank.

Top of the skull I'd think about that, a Frontier, another Tacoma of what's currently out there..I'd buy used again.

For sure, Sunday I woke up and thought “I should buy a Raptor”.
I have been lurking Ranger Raptor forums and know you can get them at MSRP. Found 3 within 4 hours and put in leads. Guy text me Monday, sent pictures of it. I asked the price, he said MSRP plus $129 doc fee is it. I confirmed with CarMax on the offer and called the sales manager back and gave a $500 deposit. Easiest car deal ever. He tinted the front 2 for $75 and showed up and left within 30 minutes.

One dealer hit me at $5,000 over, I’m like lady you can find these for MSRP all over. Crazy is guys on the Ranger forums have been waiting 10 months for their truck, and I found my Sunday and put the deposit down and took delivery in 72 hours.

Nice looking Raptor. If more follow your lead, Toyota will be forced to adjust their prices, or on the other hand, offer engine options. Thanks for making a possible difference in Tacoma-land.

I think Toyota is going to lose more customers. We’ve been bitching about the prices, and this is a prime example of their cockiness. Can they really afford to lose folks to Ford, Chevy, GMC, etc. ?

I had a service visit today at my Toyota dealer. I looked an a 24 TRD sport with a manual tansmission. I was in love for about 12 seconds until I turned around and saw my plain old 3rd gen V6 staring back at me with those amber eyes.
