I would make that the most painful $49 that dealer ever scammed. I'd be all over their google and social media with this.

As terrible as this whole thing sounds, it does really only implicate one person, the one who made the comment about internet mechanic and busy staff and then charged the customer for work done under warranty. I would report that one person. If you blow it out of proportion and try to implicate the entire dealership then you risk having your legitimate complaint be ignored and that person goes on to do the same thing to other fellow truckers. Be smart about it and report up the ladder, manager of service, director of service, etc...

If you had less than 80,000 miles it should have been covered. It says so in the T-SBs. Print them out and take them with you

No. You realise there are two seperate posts here that you are combining in your response? This is obviously a systemic problem, not rogue individuals. These aren't the first posts here we have seen like this about this problem, just the latest.

The only way to correct this is by bringing these types of practices to light. I'd argue by not calling out the dealerships who do this and only naming individuals is it leaves open the potential for shenanigans to continue unabated by the same dealer. A dealer is going to do nothing about a service writer who does this as it clearly is an approved method of doing business at several dealerships. Only Toyota themselves can affect a change on this. Or public pressure.

I don't think being angry for being mocked, lied to, or ripped off is "blowing it out off proportion". I think it is a shame the response can't be made properly porportional.

Skruf, my complaint to dealer was transmission was “hunting” for the right gear. Truck seemed to shift quickly into 4th or 5th gears when going very slow. “Lugging” feeling.

Well, regardless of the "cause" they listed, they did do the right "correction" you wanted. Op Code EG1811 is T-SB-0062-18.

Reading the comments here I’m amazed at some dealers. I took mine in for regular service and simply asked, “can you do the latest ECU update?” Service advisors reply, “so you’ve heard about that, sure, I’ll just need to write it up as stumbling between 40 and 50 mph, is that ok”? It was a simple as that.

But the exact same dealer has been listed in this thread as turning someone else down (over the phone). I’m sure a lot depends on who you talk to, and how you talk to them. (And if they got laid last night)

That jerk doesn’t belong in service. I would be looking for the GM’s office.

Took mine in today to Longo Toyota for the 5k service and mentioned the TSB update. I also printed out the instructional tsb paper work, thank you guys for posting that on here you guys rock. Are you guys able to tell if they updated it by the info provided? I don’t see the t-sb 0068-18 nor the t-sb-0058-18 mentioned on there. Also, I picked up my truck right before closing so I didn’t get a chance to talk to the tech guy.

I definitely felt a major difference after driving off the lot. I would hate to find out this is a placebo effect haha.
