There is a an abrasion/ film on my windshield on the outside right in the line of sight that I can’t remove with windex or rain-x window cleaner. My truck is parked in a garage and not off roaded or recently parked under any trees for a period of time. Any ideas or better yet a product or solution to take the marks off? Could care less what it is actually

Pic if it shows might help. If it's any kind of tree sap, oil or adhesive spray that may have come from a vehicle in front of you try this. WD40 is great on removing all of the above. Spray a good amount on a rag and wipe it on the entire area. Let it stay for a few minutes and wipe again with same rag. Then use some hand sanitizer on a rag to get WD40 off then clean as usual.

Might try a clay bar. I parked under a tree once... the truck was covered with sap. Tried all kinds of things to get it off. What worked best was plain old soap and water.

I'd use a razor blade at a very low angle. Just make sure the windshield is a s clean as you can get it. Any dirt on the windshield could cause scratches as you move it across the glass.

Lube it with soap and water before you blade it.

I did that once to remove water spots and windows looked great until the sun hit them just right. All windows had swirl Mark scratches in them. Spent an entire day with a DA to get them out.

I’ve been using 0000 and have never scratched the glass on any car I detail including 100k cars. Are your sure it’s was 0000?

Yep, did the same on my canopy windows... had to take it into a glass shop to get it fixed.

Yea, I double checked when I noticed the swirls. I've read a lot of people have good luck with no problems that's why I tried it. Not sure if it was soft glass or bad steel wool but just won't take the chance again. :hattip:

Did mine a few weeks ago. I used my Griots RO with glass pad and rubbing compound for Slight Scratches. I kept spraying with window cleaner as the compound dried out; big difference. While on my ladder, I went up & down followed by horizontally. Kept at it for 5 minutes roughly. Then I followed up the following weekend using same method. I think my sludge was a result of a light rain shower washing up all the oils accumulated in the roads sprayed up from passing/following vehicles.

I used this combination 10 years ago with great success when the glass on my son's car became etched from acid-like rain while he was away at college. The school (TCU) was doing major renovations to their football stadium at the time, and my sons car was parked for months without moving in a nearby lot. His windshield, rear window, and passenger side windows were covered with deep water spots that nothing would remove. I think it was concrete dust in the air that caused the problem. This stuff repaired the damage, and the glass looked like new.

Read down a couple paragraphs for tips...
    https://askannamoseley.com/2015/08/how-to-clean-glass-shower-doors-the-easy-way/

When I bought it, you could buy the Spot-X with 2 pads as a set from Amazon, but it's no longer available. The generic stuff from ebay is the same powder.
