    Fox racing shocks,
Was curious if anyone out there had purchased Fiberglass fenders for there tacoma and didn’t run 35s. I’m thinking about it but from what i’ve read 35s are a large commitment and not really something i need but i do like the look of the fenders. If anyone has pictures of there tacoma with aftermarket fenders with tires smaller then a 35 pictures would be greatly appreciated

I should also add that i’m talking about the 3” fenders from McNiel and not any of the big 6” ones

It looks awful, don't do it. And getting fiberglass fenders to fit and look good is just as much work as fitting 35's, if not more.

    Fox racing shocks,
when i say more work, i’m exclusively referring to the Re-gear for 35s. I’d be completely okay with putting in the work for fitting the 35s but re gearing and vehicle is above my skill level at the moment.

    Fox racing shocks,
I understand what there aimed for and that is eventually where i’d liked to go, my question is whether or not 33s would look silly with the fenders being so much bigger

Yea it'll most definitely make the proportions all weird and with only 33's and no LT, it's going to look really awkward. There are pictures around here of guys who went LT and started with the fiberglass and 33s and it just looks stupid. Don't do it

If you could point me in the direction of some of the people who’ve done that i’d appreciate it, i’d like to see how bad it looks

I'll spend some time trying to dig for those photos tonight because they were helpful in pointing me in the right direction. But in general if you scroll through the threads comparing McNeil to Fiberwerx to Adv, you'll find them

Dude, once you start running LT fenders it's not about the look anymore. It's about the need. Running those fenders with 285's is silly and looks silly. It shows you as an amateur because once you go LT, 35's or bigger is a must... why? Because you are high speed desert running, not going to the mall.

Well i am an amateur, i just like the way the fenders look. I didn’t know i had to have LT and massive tires with the the fenders to be accepted in Tacoma society

It has nothing to do with that and everything to do with function. There will be wind noise. There will be fitment issues. The fenders will likely need modified to show a halfway decent gap. They are made for people actually doing high speed off road, not people posing.

    Fox racing shocks,
well since 35s are a must, I don’t suppose you know whether it’s really that bad to have them without re gearing the truck. This whole thread was me asking a question because i don’t want to re gear my truck

In short, yea you'll have to regear for 35s. If you don't, not only will you HATE the experience of driving your truck, but you'll put a bunch of unnecessary strain on your whole drivetrain and your fuel efficiency will suck cause your transmission won't know what the hell is going on

found this 2nd gen with fiberglass fenders and 33s, is it really going to be that different with a third gen vs a second get

Well that truck is also LT so the fenders are necessary and also look more appropriate

    Fox racing shocks,
What exactly makes a truck LT, i understand that you mean it has a long travel kit, but i don’t get how you can tell without seeing much in the wheel well

I can tell his upper control arms are longer than the stock length. It sticks the tires out to make them fill out the fender more. Also he's SUA in the rear. A big indicator.

You know, you can do 285s, and then just cut your fenders a bit....

Or you can do 35s, and take a jigsaw to factory fenders and also look good, without LT

Larger lower control arms, that are 2.5 or more inches wider, upper control arms that match, gussets everywhere, limit straps, coilovers that require the use of those lowers, spring under rear or 4 link. More limit straps, super beef rear shocks.

Just think to yourself, 10k if you have no idea how to do anything yourself, and that's just a lower end guesstimate
