So my truck got sideswiped by a boxtruck or something beefy while parked outside of my office in DC... Same thing happened to my FJ a couple of years ago two blocks up!

It was a hit and run but my insurance is cool about that since I have a police report proving I wasn't driving and it indeed was a hit and run.

They are going to give me an estimate when they look at it on Monday. I opted out of getting it all taken care of at their shop.

That being said I'm trying to figure out how much I can do myself.

Has anyone here replaced a fender on the third gens? anything to look out for?

Also, I can't find anyone online selling a pre-painted inferno fender. does anyone know of a place that sells this before I start getting estimates from a body shop?

I plan on going with TRD Pro headlights, and a metal bumper. Probably will get a used bumper cover which I will end up cutting anyway.

    Thanks for any input!

    H

Make sure your insurance is aiming it as either comprehensive or uninsured motorist claim and not collision. Usually uninsured has the lowest deductible

Yup! Already made sure, its a low deductible and will not affect my premium.

If there is no damage underneath fenders just bolt on no big deal. You would need a shop to paint it though which is likely most of the cost anyways.

Have the shop give you an itemized quote. That will tell you if it's worth trying to save a few bucks or just have the shop do it all.

One thing to consider is that if the shop does it all they will likely have a lifetime warranty. If you do install it yourself you probably won't have a warranty.

Thats awesome! they actually have an inferno with a complete fender assembly. $500 painted.

I contacted them but will pull the trigger for sure once I feel confident about doing it myself.
