Just got a Fas Top Solo Topper for my Tacoma.

Installation took about an hour by myself. The major drawback of the Fas-Top vs the other soft toppers out there is there are no videos or real "how to" instructions for the Tacoma. So I took my time to make sure nothing got messed up.

It was all pretty straight forward using the generic instructions that they provide. My only issue is the mounting clamps don't fit right, which might be because I have molle panels installed behind my rails. But it should be a simple fix with a vise and hammer to put a little extra bend in the clamps.

The topper itself seems really well made.
The windows are velcroed to the topper and have zippers to seal them to the side panels. The side panels attach to the rails via velcro.
The rear window sits on top of the tailgate so on one hand you don't have to worry about it scratching your paint but on the other I'm willing to bet the ability to keep water out is no where near as good as Softopper.

I went with this topper over Softopper and Bestop because the company that makes it is located in North Dakota and they claim the material is rated for the extreme cold temperatures the north gets.

Tomorrow I will take more pictures once I get the rails fully installed.

So the rail mounts that I couldn't quite get right was a user error. I needed to fully torque down the bed rail bolts first then tighten the topper rail bolts after.
The only modifying I needed to do was to clean out the excess powder coating inside the pivot holes, they didn't slide easily onto the pins.

Folding it down is very simple and only takes a few seconds.

The top material feels like a heavy vinyl similar to tonneau covers. The sides seem like some kind of canvas that has a little stretch to it which helps with attaching to the velcro on the rails.

Each corner has a cam lock strap that you can pull on to adjust the tightness.
Getting the side panels to look nice is fairly easy, depending on how much of a perfectionist you are, since they attach via velcro instead of snap buttons. But that means each time you take it down you will have to perfectly line up the velcro the next time you open it.

That looks pretty good! I had always thought fastop went out of business after their tonneau/soft topper combo.

Still liking the Fas top? Would you be willing to post more pictures of this from the side and back with everything closed up on it? Looks pretty good imo.

I've had a Fas-Top (SOLO no tonneau) for about 6 months now and love it. Admittedly, the Softopper brand topper is the sleekest looking honestly, but the Fas-Top is super durable like OP said and has a really good mounting system for the front and rear windows (it actually clips into the rails at each corner). Lead time for me was 6 weeks to the day. The customer service is good too. I have been able to either call them, or message them on FB to get an answer. I can put some pictures up in a bit too. My topper has had plenty of time and hot Southern California heat to get the wrinkles out etc.

Let me know if you want any specific pictures. I had a hard time finding 3rd gen pictures and how things mounted, material, etc. before I bought mine.

My only complaint so far is when I use touch free car washes the water makes it's way into the bed at all 4 corners.
But during normal rains the bed stays dry, I don't know how well it holds up during heavy rain since it's been a really dry autumn where I am.

My bestop does the same, pretty sure the softtopper does also. So its a complaint we all have.

That was Can-Back. I believe even they are trying to make a comeback though.

That looks very nice but I’m sure they cost a ton. Otherwise seems like a great idea and product.

How useable is the upper portion? Is it pretty sturdy?

On the Fas-Top? If so, what do you mean upper portion?

    Cold weather update:
I leave my truck outdoors so the topper feels the full brunt of the cold all day and night.
20 to 15 degrees the topper window is easy to open and close. The whole topper is still easy to fold down but a bit of a pain to get perfectly stretched out when putting it back up.
5 to -5 degrees the topper window can still be opened. I only use the velcro to close the window, don't want to risk breaking a zipper. As far as folding the topper down the fabric feels so frozen I don't want to risk damage by folding it up or folding it and being unable to redeploy it.

    Enough for now
Looks sharp and I LOVE when you have it in safari mode (sides rolled up too extended)
