    Hello!

I’m looking at getting some new shoes for my taco. Did some research and decided to go with Replika R213 Rims (R17 with +5 Offset) with some Falkens. I still have my stock suspension but looking to lift it in the future. I know the largest tire size without rubbing on stock is 265/70/R17. Has anyone else done this set up with good results? Also, any good deals to lookout for? The best thus far in pricing is Partsengine.ca with the rims coming too $530 and Tires $765. I’m located in Canada.

    Thanks!

@Discount Tire ......this setup with that offset would work fine.

Did you want to go with an "E" rated tire or their SP rated. The difference is 53 lbs or 47 lbs per tire and the difference of $765 or $568.

I’m a noob when it comes to tires. Do you mind elaborating a bit more on the differences?

E rated are going to be 10 ply sidewalls. Very heavy duty. They will wear well but are as hard as hell and very heavy for take off and gas mileage. SP tire are soft and lighter but not as durable. It depends on what you plan on using them got.

Thanks for the clarification! I’m mostly a road warrior. Rarely go off-road and when I do, it’s pretty light stuff. The SP is sounding better for my needs. Are you able to send a link to those? Can’t seem to find them on partsengine.

I have wildpeaks in 285/70r17 with the SP rating. They ride well and the road noise is negligible. E rated tires in my experience are rough riding no matter what the suspension setup. Unless you are rock crawling or need a super stiff sidewall then I would recommend the SP rated tires

I would stay away from Falken. I have heard (and experienced) the AT3W and was not impressed. You really pay for what you get!

A lot of people have had great luck on TW with Wildpeaks. I had bad luck with them, but great luck with KO2's.

If you go to Discount Tire, get their warranty... They do great work too. Discount Tire worked with me when I was having issues, even though I bought my tires from Amazon.

Currently running 265/70R16 Wildpeaks standard load rating and have right at 38k on them, still a good tire but starting to get some wear. They've taken me through a few good snowstorms, creeks, some light mud, etc. I'll get another set soon. I previously had General AT2's and the junk factory tire. The AT2's were ok, but louder and rougher riding than the Wildpeaks.

At the parking lot outside of work there are at least 5 vehicles I can recall with them. 4 of us love them and the one guy said he wished he had something different. Kinda like toothpaste commercials where 9/10 dentists recommend a toothpaste... you can't satisfy everybody. That's ok! You'll most likely like them and get good service from them.

I have E - rated Wildpeak AT/3 - 265/75/16 on 16x8 Methods. I love them. They're an awesome all around tire that really excels in snow and rain.

As for the E vs P rated, I went with the E -rated because I want the extra durability offroad. I tend to drive on really rocky roads/trails and want to minimize the chance of a side wall puncture. I dont notice the stiffness of the tire too much, but the weight is more noticable.

    For What It's Worth...

I'm at 71,000 miles on my P-rated 285/70-17 Falken Wildpeaks. 2/32 of tread left, so it's definitely time to replace. I bought these back when they first came out. They were so new, Discount Tire had to special order them. Around $140/tire back then, and now they are $195/tire.

    My 71k mile experience:
    • 99.9% highway driving
    • Rotated every 5,000 miles, and ave worn evenly
    • Kept tire pressure at 36-37psi
    • Never towed anything.
    • Have a bed cover on, and bed is usually empty.
    • These tires + 17x9 Fuel wheels, I lost a few HP and about 2mpg. And yes I compensated for the difference in tire size.
    • 2 nails, easily repaired by myself using a flat repair (plug) kit.
    • No real experience offroad, but I'm sure TW can speak on that.
    • Going from stock wheels and tires to THIS sort of felt unstable and wobbly. But I got used to it quickly.
    • Handle very well in the rain, surprisingly good even at 2/32 tread level!
I've been looking at other tires, particularly the Toyo Open Country ATII. Might end up getting Wildpeaks again though. I don't see why not.

My 07 DCLB Taco is wearing LT 265/75-17 at3w on stock sport rims , has been for 30,000+ miles and have worn just a bit. No rebalance ( balanced perfect the first try), shakes pills or anything weird. My son has P245/75/17s on his 02 4runner with 2015 4Runner rims and his have worn faster, and he had balance issues from the get go. I rotate every 7500 miles or so and he hardly never rotated his and hasn’t gotten any alignments, not smart on his part. I have no doubt that I’ll see at least 60,000 miles on these. I feel that the tires are very solid for the off roading we do and work great in rain and the snow and ice we see up here in the mountains. Although my Wife’s 07 V8 4Runner has Duratracs and they seem to be better in the snow and ice, maybe because her truck has all wheel drive and a locking center door. I would for sure buy the Falken tires again as I feel they are well worth the price I paid, just sayin. Mitch. OH, also as a side note, my 08 3/4 ton Burb has GoodYear Wrangler SR-A’s on it and they absolutely SUCK BALLS, rain, snow ,off road, everywhere.
