I'm about to pull the trigger on the Wildpeaks in 265/75/16. I got a pricematch so about $105/tire. However, I'm kind of leaning toward the UT as it's a bit lighter (I think about 5 lbs) in the same size and has a bit more tread depth. No warranty though and about $50 more/tire. They do have a $60 rebate though.

Anyway, if you have either what did you base your decision on and how do you like them? Any regrets?

ETA, oh, I've read a number of threads on both so I know they are both generally liked. Mainly curious what criteria you felt was most important and what drove to one over the other.

I've got nearly 50,000 miles on my falkens and they are still going. I looked at a lot of tires and figured for the price, I would give it a shot and if I didnt like them I wouldn't be out much. I didnt expect much but they've been better in every way than tires $200+. They've been great all around.

I'll be putting on another set of falkens.

Good to know. For the price I'm inclined to go with them too, but did hear some issues with balancing and the silica compound.

Discount tire does have a 30 day guarantee, right? I saw something about tires can't be driven on but how would that work? You can't even leave without driving on them.

Go with the Wildpeaks. I made the switch from the KO2's. The ride is much smoother and the tires look great. Couldn't be happier[IMG]

I went with Wildpeaks, and I liked them so much I got them for my wife's 4Runner also. I had K02s on my last Tacoma and while they were a great tire, I actually like these Wildpeaks more. They're so much better in the snow, and much better in the rain. I put about 25k miles on the K02s and in the rain they were pretty terrible with plenty of tread left.. Same thing in the snow. The Wildpeaks have been superb all around, including off road. I know it isn't a direct comparison to the tires you mentioned, but I will no doubt be putting the Wildpeaks on when these are worn.

I’d go with the ultraterrains. No noticeable road noise, great wet/dry traction, deep tread/aggressive sidewall, lightweight (265/75/16 SL is 40lbs) and good looks!

I was in the same boat as you for a looong time trying to decide on a AT tire between these and the WildPeaks, these fit the bill perfectly. A lot of people have had balancing issues with the WildPeaks.

How and where did you get the pricematch from? That seems like a great price. Btw I have a buddy with a ton of miles on his wildpeaks and he absolutely loves them.

Ive seen some people say that have issues, but I haven’t had any. It also seems every person that’s had issues also has aftermarket wheels of some flavor.

I can see a tire or two having issues, but some of these guys claim to have gone though like 10 and none balanced. I have a hard time believing there could be that many bad tires and its not something else that’s the issue.

Can anyone chim in on balancing issues with the Wildpeaks? I seem to remember a thread recently where numerous users were having issues.

My local discount tire matched the price on Amazon. Pretty much why I'm going with them. If I run into any issues I guess I'll take 'em up on their guarantee.

The silica issue were from years ago where people were getting extremely short life spans out of the tires. That has been resolved as I haven't heard any complaints of this issue recently.
The balancing issue pops up from time to time. But that's the case with every tire manufacturer. Generally i'd say it is a non issue for as popular as these tires are here, you here very few complaints with them.
I have about 30k on mine and no issues.

Debated every tire under the sun for several weeks, and finally decided on Wildpeaks for me. I will hopefully have them mounted on some Ray 10's within the month.
