I purchased a set of the Falken Rubitreks 2500 miles ago, spent a good part of the day plowing, and the last 3 weeks navigating mud season.

These are still somewhat under the radar. Imagine a Wildpeak with a continuous center tread and you have a Rubitrek.

The Wildpeak was at the top of my list with Toyo AT III a close second as I had them on my 2013 Sport.

I went with these because they were cheaper, designed to be quieter than the Wildpeak and I thought they looked a little cooler and a little different.

They did great in today’s conditions clawing in the snow like Blizzaks. They are very, very quiet and weight comes in at 42lbs, like the Wildpeak AT3, while the Toyo AT III comes in at 41. The Wildpeak AT4 weighs 46 pounds if I remember correctly.

They are quieter than my Toyos and while I have no experience with Wildpeaks, I suspect the difference is negligible, but the tread design would favor the Rubitrek on paper.

I posted a similar thread a month ago, and agree with you. The rubitreks are undervalued. As long as Falken continues making them and they are cheaper than Wildpeaks, I’ll stick with them. They are an excellent tire. And I believe they are 2 pounds lighter than the new At4s. Just a great tire and so much cheaper. Can’t beat them.

I was about to get the Discoverer Rugged Trek because of the amount of mud we deal with. As soon as mud season starts, the wife gets the Taco (inappropriate comment withheld) so, I wanted whisper quiet for her benefit….

    Noisy tires = noisy wife!!

Per tire rack, 46 pounds for the AT/4…which is approaching 10 pounds over stock.

Unsprung weight, rotational mass, physics…blah…blah blah

I think I’ve lost 1 MPG, hard to tell due to wintah warm-ups.

The rarity of it was a plus. The Wildpeaks are so common my mom has ‘em on her Lacrosse. And yes, you can stuff 31’s without a lift!

    Stuff 31’s!

Yeah I like the wildpeaks but everyone has them and the AT4W’s are pretty heavy.

You can’t really ask for more than this if you’re just planning on mild off roading…

We deal with ice, snow and mud. Never had a traction issue in the mud, clearance is what will kill you. So, snow and ice, I don’t know of any AT that conquers ice, so a good 3PMS AT is best. Other than our road, I don’t wheel. For me, this checks off all the boxes.

Almost had myself convinced to Run Blizzaks year round, at about 6,000 miles a year they would last. They weigh 39 pounds and surprisingly quiet. My wife runs them on her CRV, my son on his Civic.

Only problem is that the sizes available are very limited (not to mention the vendors that actually sell them. I think DT could special order in certain places). For instance, I don't think they have a 255/80/R17 option last I checked (tall skinny) like they do with the Wildpeak.

On my next go ‘round, I’m going with Skinny’s as they are great in mud. So, may have to pass on the Rubi’s. And yes, the Rubi’s are elusive and limited sizes.

I was really interested in this tire until I determined they did not have a tall skinny. Maybe FALKEN will listen to us and come out with one :fingerscrossed:

Been looking at getting these for the two work Tacomas the company I work for uses in my area when their current tires wear out, since most of our drive distance is on the highway but we do need to be able to handle mud and snow during the winter and some moderate dirt backroads. Main issue I've been encountering so far is just finding places that actually know what the Rubitreks are and can order them for us - where's everyone who's running Rubitreks gotten them from?

I got mine at a regional tire shop in New England, Sullivan Tire

I’m not even sure why they have this tire in their lineup….lol

Simpletire. With the different promos they had I paid less than 800, and that was with an alignment at the shop that installed them.
