Hello guys, I hope everyone is doing good. I am looking for new tires for my Taco and I cannot seem to make up my mind. I tried to search and looked at many YouTube videos, but I wanted to get your input. I used to have BFG ko2 before on my last truck, but they didn't last long and are way overpriced in my opinion. I am between the following:

    -Falken Wildpeak AT3W
    -Nitto Terra Grappler G2
    -Toyo Open Country AT2 Extreme

I would appreciate everyone's feedback as I cannot make up my mind. Thank you!

I’ve heard but don’t quote me that toyo took something out of their tires so they don’t last as long anymore, but it’s still in the nitros as toyo makes them. Or something like that lol

If I was going to put all 3 tires on my truck, the order would be:
    1. Falken Wildpeak AT3W
    2. Toyo Open Country AT2 Xtreme
    3. Nitto Terra Grappler G2.

I have not owned any Falken tires but from the reviews I've seen on here and the fact that we run the commercial 11R22.5 ones on our rigs at work, they would be the ones I'd buy.

The Toyos and Nittos are both produced by the same manufacturer with the same compound as far as I know, so it just comes down to which tread pattern/sidewall you like.

Thanks. Yeah I'm stuck. But I am aiming more towards the Falkens.

I've had the Toyos for 4 years and 50k miles. Still have 9/32 of tread left. New have 13/32 for reference. They last forever.

Yeah I had the Toyos in the Xtreme 285/65R18 on my Tundra when I had it and they were alright, pretty good off road, but it seems many people are happier with the wet traction of the Falkens. That was the one area I disliked about the toyos, even in the Xtreme size. I think it's because the outside block of tread is all connected, whereas the Falkens outside tread is open.

Not going to tell you what you should do or give you an opinion. I will tell you i have the wildpeaks and love them. Dry traction is on point with went highway tire. They don't know what rain is. Plow thru puddles and flooded roads like they are dry. Ride is a bit stiffer as would be the case with any quality at tire. Lost one mpg switching from highway tires. Will put a set on the Bronco next. Have zero bad things to say about them.

I appreciate the feedback. That's another area of my concern was the rain. We have bipolar weather here in Florida and I want something good in the rain too. I heard the Toyos last, but that they are not so good in the rain.

Of the three you've listed I have run the Toyo and the Falken. The Falken is definitely a better tire on the pavement when its either wet or dropping south of the freezing point. Off road (for me dirt trails and gravel roads) I am not sure there is an obvious difference, they both did the job for me. I would give the edge to the Wild Peaks though I was happy with both.

In my experience the Nitto's balance the best, and wear better than the Toyo's, no experience with the Falkan

Based on what you’re considering you should check out the Wrangler Ultra Terrains sold by @Discount Tire Direct. I just had mine put on Saturday and first impressions are great! No noticeable road noise, great wet/dry traction, deep tread/aggressive sidewall, lightweight (265/75/16 SL is 40lbs) and good looks!

I was in the same boat as you for a looong time trying to decide on a AT tire, these fit the bill perfectly.

I haven’t personally used them in snow yet, but others speak very highly of their snow performance.

OP I am as confused as you... I also have cooper AT3's on my list and BFG K02's... on top of the ones you listed.

I'm not a fan of the sidewall on the falkens ... otherwise I would likely buy them.. they are also heavy ... for example the Nitto and Toyos in P265/70/17 are about 40lbs and the Falkens are 46lbs.... thats as much as some C-load tires

My buddy has the Cooper AT3 and so far so good. The K02's to me are just so overrated and so much money. Honestly I'm between the Falken and Nitto Terra Grappler g2.
