I doubt it...but whats the problem with it running while the truck is on? It might be simpler to attach some sort of on/off switch that you can flip whenever u park it in a sketchy hood

Do an internet search on "Normally Closed" relays/switches. You can wire one of those up to an ignition wire or similar and have the circuit open when the wire is hot and close (therefore activating the lights), when you shut the car off

the fuse under the dash for power outlets is powered all the time in my truck. used my add-a-fuse on that for heated seats and noticed they could stay on, so i moved it.

Do what you think you need. These trucks are not hard to steal, by the way. Not sure where you got that impression, but it's a false one.

Well, I believe his point was, bust a window and steal from the glove compartment. Not, the truck itself.

Even so, a blue blinking light is quite the unique way in preventing a theft. Usually thieves are opportunistic, i.e. A door left unlocked. Pro thieves would steal anything anywhere regardless.

I assumed like most who say that and think the chipped key means nobody can start the truck easily without the actual key, which isn't true and doesn't require a "pro thief."

Either way, not knocking his LED idea or anything else, actual alarm systems have blinking LEDs, mine is actually blue as well.

I just don't want someone under the impression their Tacoma is hard to drive away while he sleeps.

None yet, starting over!! OME lift w/ Dakars & 885's Remote Start w/ window control
Get an LED that is a self-blinker (i.e. doesn't require anything external to make it blink), and wire the positive side up to 12v+, and the negative side to a switched ignition wire - you can find both of these at the radio, I just don't know what colors they are off the top of my head.

FYI, the fuse that is for the 12v sockets in the dash of the truck is always hot.

Even though the sockets are only on with ingition that is taken care of by the relay for the circut on the back of the fuse panel inside the truck. But the fuse supplying power to that circuit in the dash fuse panel is always hot.

Also door lock circuits are always on.. that's why the fob works when you lock/unlock.

I figure sub ten bux, a few minutes under my dash, ta da blinking blue light, might spare me having to replace a window... it's been a few years but once I had my back passenger window broken.. there was a case of pellegrino on the back seat.... long story short, the window that I replaced was broken again before even peeled the sticker off it... I live in better environs now but u never know Lotta tweakers in norcal in general

The relays are for car alarms etc, things you wouldn't want active when truck is on, but would want live when the truck is off and locked.... thanks again for the tip

My 2015 12v outlet fuses aren't live when truck is off, I checked the 12v outlet fuse as well as the acc fuse... just trying not pull a wire thru the grommet from engine bay for such a silly and cheap project... so far 5.75$ in parts, hours of my time....isn't there somewhere w 12v power on the cab side of the firewall when the truck is off?

You need to check again, yes the 12v socket fuse in the dash fuse box is hot all the time..... wiring diagrams for 05 and 12+ trucks are identical for this circuit (12v cigarette in the dash)

As you can see, the 15amp "PWR OUTLET" fuse is connected directly to the battery, it is before the relay that is switched via ACC power to turn the 12v sockets on when the key is in the ignition.

Obviously, if you pull the fuse out of the socket, one side will be hot and the other will not.

But again, this fuse it hot, how do i know... i literally just verified and use it for an always hot line to a dual usb charger without issue.

Gents, I know some of you may doubt his idea.....but deterrence is 90% of the battle. If the bad guys thinks your vehicle (or house, or person) are going to give them some resistance, they will look for easier prey.

+1 to the OP for thinking outside the box for a cheap method of deterrence. It may not stop a determined thief, but it will scare away those looking for a quick buck.....
