I'm new here and have a 2022 TRD OR. I'm a little concerned about spending that much money for factory LED headlights. I bought rear LED taillights for another vehicle and after a few years some of the LED went out and can't replace the bulb. So are the factory the best choice
    Thanks for your help

I originally wanted OEM LEDs. Even snagged a conversion harness in advance just to be ready to jump on a good sale when the opportunity presented itself. However, I ultimately went with Morimoto Xb Gen 2's. I don't regret it. I absolutely love them. They looked better to me, they were 100% plug and play, and they are more unique than the standard OEM LED's I see everyone else with now a days. I love the lowbeam brightness, i love the DRL intensity, i love the smoked lenses, i love the start up sequence/light dance, and i got a really good deal on mine. But my favorite thing, and this only applies to SR5's like myself, is i can flip between white and orange DRL's depending on my stalk position/head unit settings. See video for example

    My only complaints are:

    1. They were a pain in the ass to aim just right, but that could have just been my ADHD/OCD working against me

    2. The lowbeam cutoff is very sharp. Some ppl like that, some people don't. I see everything very clearly. No complaints from me

If I had to choose again, I'd go Morimotos again and again.

OEM if I were to go LED

For now, I’m sticking with halogen. They create enough heat to keep snow/slush from freezing over the lights.

    I went with OEM
The one thing I saw a few articles about , was after market headlights plastics yellowing much faster than oem. Figured I’d rather play it safe

    my 2017 trd or has,

OEM led trd pro headlight conversion with Dave Easa's harness
    SS3 Max fogs (selective yellow)
SS3 Pro ditch lights (selective yellow)
VLED's stage 1 rear tail light light conversion kit

100% recommend all of these products.

I also have DD ss3 amber fogs and meso stage 1 tails. Love them.

I have had Morimoto xb gen2s for 3 years now and have not had that issue. I will say OEM is worth the money for sure, but Morimoto is a solid runner up for best LED conversion

This sounds just like me to a T! I too want to upgrade to LED and I also bought Dave Easa's LED harness already as I was originally planning on going with the OEM LED headlights. I then decided I wanted something different so I am planning on going with the Alpharex NOVA headlights.

    that si a poor choice:
    a) I see enough post about failures and piss poor customer service on that brand to stay away
    b) they are not a legal beam pattern, they are just glorified flood lights. All fill no down range projection.

Oh wow! I didn't know that. That's interesting and thanks for letting me know. Maybe I will go with OEM after all.

OEM’s are a basic, reliable, reflector-type LED and they work & look great. No real need to search for aftermarket alternatives.

I always prefer oem. Imo, the reflectors in the oem led headlights looks better and more aggressive. The small projectors in the Morimoto looks too aftermarket to me. With that being said, if I were to go aftermarket it'd be morimoto because they at least put effort into the beam pattern. The Alpharex lights are a hard pass. The spread of the light is horrid. All foreground, no distance.

The only negative I can say about morimotos is quality consistency. You'll want to buy from a reputable vendor that will back up their warranty like The Retrofit Source because if something goes wrong, you want a vendor that'll take care of you. I did a hid retrofit projector on my old car running Morimoto Mini D2S projectors with their ballasts, wiring harness, and projector shroud with built in running lights. The running lights in one of the shrouds went bad so Retrofit Source sent me a new unit ezpz. The wiring harness was going bad a few months later abd they warrantied it ezpz. Never had an issue with the projectors themselves but bottom line is buy from a reputable vendor if you're going with morimotos.

Does anyone have a close up photo of the OEM LED lights? Are they blacked out too inside the housing?

Sorry it’s little sorry but it’s black interior
With the light surrounds being clear but it’s a clean look. The pro v non is only a little chrome ring on side
