My 2009 Double Cab TRD OEM (PT791-04050) hitch and bumper are extremely rusted and flake off on customer drives (I'm a handyman) and needs to be replaced. Its is too rusted to bother cleaning it up. The frame is still in good shape and can be needle scaled and re-coated.

I already have a new bumper to replace the severely rotted one, but the hitch with be an aftermarket (likely Curt). New OEM hitches are too much $$$.

Since the aftermarket does not have the wide/extended bracketing that the OEM hitch provides for the bumper mounting, I am left with the possibility (if they fit) of using new bumper brackets, parts # TO1167114 & TO1166114.

To install the aftermarket hitches, spacers are provided with them to work with the bumper brackets. (Plenty of you tube vids depicting this)

This all seems really straight forward but the main question is: WILL the new bumper brackets (TO1167114 & TO116114) be a match up and fit into my frame using the old OEM PT791-05050 frame holes?

I recently replaced the rear bumper on my 2006. It was rusted almost to the point of not being able to get it off, I think I got lucky.....

You didn't mention the "Bumper Face Bar Reinforcement Beam" (haha Toyota calls it that not me) #52043-04010.

That rear beam is what the outer bumper attaches too. I could imagine those TO1167114 & TO116114 brackets working to hold this beam but forsaking the hitch. I'm not sure about these spacers you mentioned. I've installed hundreds of curt hitches but not on a Tacoma, mostly subaru's when I worked at the shop Rack N Road in Seattle.

I agree Toyota charges way too much for an OEM hitch replacement. I found a Hitch/Beam and Bumper combo for sale in my area from TW's for sale forum.

To answer your question ...yes is my best guess if those brackets will work BUT I don't see how the curt hitch will fit on. I think those brackets eliminate the hitch but still allow the Beam and Bumper. I could be wrong, I'd love to see pictures if you decide to go this route. Best of Luck.

I went ahead and order the two brackets at Rock Auto for reasonable $. I also ordered a few extra flanged M12-1.25 35mm bolts because the heads on mine are going to be toast after removing them. Everything is soaking in PB Blaster...gonna head out with a little Kroil tomorrow. A little heat and those babys are gonna slide out:fingerscrossed:
I analyzed the bolt patterns on the brackets and OEM hitch brackets and since these are the only parts associated with all 2009s they gotta fit.

I will take pics if I remember;)
