Recently got into an accident with my 05' TRD OffRoad and thinking it may be done for. I have been doing research into the repairs but also trying to find another used Tacoma as an alternate plan. The only place I can find a decent selection is on Facebook. has anyone had experience with the used cars on Facebook and if they are legit and okay or not? Also if there are any other sites that have a good stock of used Tacoma's? I am in the Pensacola, FL area.

No specific experience with FB but as with any used vehicle purchase (no matter where you buy from) do your due dillegence to inspect the vehicle top to bottom inside and out and/or take it to a shop for a pre-purchase inspection before you commit to buying.
Another good idea is to ask for maintenance records/history.
There's some good deals out there but there's also plenty of junk people are looking to unload on an unsuspecting buyer.

Carfax or similar services are well worth the cost.

facebook is the new craigslist. but it's really just a message board that anyone can post on. the quality and legitimacy is just as good as it is with the entire rest of the internet.

some are scams, some are legit, some are just flaky, some are dealers trying to convince you to take up a payment plan.

it can really be all, or none of the above. just tread carefully, do your homework where you can, trust your gut in all of it. if it seems too good, or the seller gives you a weird feeling, trust it.

It takes some fair effort to build a FB profile up to the point where marketplace will be approved.

On the other hand anyone can post a CL ad in 30 seconds.

I use FB for marketplace only, I always try to find an original owner or one that has had it a while. It seems like 50% of the ads are wanna be dealers/flippers 40% are high and 10% are legit. If you want to find any type of decent deal need to look daily/hourly and be ready to drop everything and go get it as soon as it's posted. Most likely if the ad has been up for a few days or weeks it's overpriced in this market.

Yeah Marketplace is pretty good, I basically use it exclusively. But like others have said you have to be vigilant of scams which are usually pretty obvious. I bought my GX470 off a guy on marketplace and it went great. It’s really a judgement call when/if you decide to buy something.
