    Hi gang,

I follow the forum, but I don't post often. However, I couldn't help but share a review of the EZcarlift with you.

In 2011 I purchased this EZcarlift to make changing the oil in a sports car easier; I sold that car in 2014 and have been in Tacomas ever since. I figured I'd never be able to use the lift again due to the weight of the Tacomas, but wow was I wrong!

I can't speak highly enough about this product, designed and built in the U.S.A. by a retired mechanical engineer who also provides fantastic customer support. I've spoken with the inventor twice by phone with questions about lifting the Tacoma (and a 4Runner, which it also works on).

If you're looking for safe way to get your vehicle off the ground for home maintainance then look no further than EZcarlift.com! I'm using the standard EZcarlift planks with XM52 cross members and the soft surface kit (SSK) for the Tacoma and the 4Runner.

    Keep rollin'!

I've seen these before but I don't really see any advantage to a good jack and jack stands (which are also way easier to store). To me the whole advantage of a lift is that it gets the truck higher up so you don't have to lay on the ground while you work which this does not do. Seems like an expensive way to still have to lay on the ground.

ok I'll bite. Is there a lock once you lift it to a certain height? Or how is that safe without Jackstands?

    Fair point @plurpimpin.

I've done the jack stands, floor lift shuffle too (see pic) and I can't tell you how much safer and less stressful the EZcarlift is over the former approach.

You are absolutely correct about still being on your back, but there's certainly much more room to move around if you extend the lift all the way up than with nothing at all.

Would I prefer a two post lift, no doubt. Unfortunately, that's not an option for me so I'm more than happy with the EZcarlift in the mean time.

We have something like this in our shop (Turf equipment tech). Its much larger. Comes with a giant not so easy to move steel table you can throw on top and use as a table lift too. We've only used it for a Pick up once. Usually stays as a table lift. That foot print looks pretty small. I wouldn't put much more than a Taco on it. To each their own.

Edit: Is this hydraulic? Or do you still need a floor jack?

Just seems like it doesn't do anything for $2000 that my $200 jack and $100 jack stands don't do. That price difference is a set of king shocks or plate bumper or ALOT of beer!

I've been dreaming of a lift lately and shopping around alittle out of curiosity. You can get a 2 post lift in the same price range. Seems like a solution for a problem that doesn't exist.

Each plank has a jack screw that runs the length of the plank. The planks work like two oversized scissor jacks in parallel.

Based on that design, they are always mechanically locked.

Sorry, but I got 4x Big Red Torin 6 ton jack stands for around $200 and a HF Daytona Jack for ~$200 and they sit just as high as those not even fully extended. :notsure:

And yeah, a 2 post is like $500 more than these things cost as @plurpimpin said.

True, but I couldn't take the two post lift to the track with me. This breaks down and travels.

It's all mechanical. You use a low speed, high torque drill to operate the jack screws built into the planks. The gear boxes operating the jack screws are tied together by the front cross member so both planks move in unison.

I gotta say, this thing is pretty cool! But there are other scissor lifts that offer a higher lift for less. Not discounting this product at all. But scissor lifts are handy to have if a 2 post either won’t fit or if someone moves it can simply move with you. I do prefer a 2 post for many reasons....but these would work for the majority of people far better than modifying an area for a 2 post or 4 post.

I like my 3-ton Craftsman and 6-ton ProLift double-pin jack stands combined with my HF BroEagle (1.5ton aluminum racing jack with the ProEagle extension). You have more room with properly placed jackstands to roll around on a creeper than you do with these $2k slow, non-synchronized scissor tables.

I like it. I want something I can leave on the floor between oil change/and tire rotations. This would fit the bill.

As an owner of a full height 2 post lift, I can verify that the times I need to stand up fully under a vehicle are very few. This lifts to the height I usually lift my cars for services.

    Thanks for posting.
