I’m looking into building a customer rack for the top of our campershell to hold our RTT. I can not find feet for the extruded aluminum that would allow me to connect it into the Yakima tracks. I’m looking on tnuts and 80-20 and am not finding anything. Also looked through a homemade roof rack thread on expedition portal. Anyone have anything they figured out? Thanks!

You need a landing pad 1, and a foot. There are several different feet available. I used the older Control Towers, they are discontinued, but eBay other other sources still have them. They work with the round bars. I'm not sure what you'll need to attach to 80/20.

I have whispbars with smart feet that fit in the tracks currently but I do not like them at all. Also I have no idea how to mount awnings to them.
I found some feet that prinsu makes that I think I can buy and those should work since most of a prinsu rack is the extruded stuff anyways. Just a bit costly.
I use the round bars over by roof for traction boards and a case soon.

There is no shame in welding and drilling 80/20. Sometimes it is the best route.

I recently built a rack for my Yakima tracks out of extruded aluminum. I made mounting feet out of some 1" aluminum channel I got at my local metal yard and uses some 1/8" x 3/4" flat aluminum bar I purchased from home depot and some stainless steel carriage bolts to slide into the yakima track. Since you are going to a roof top tent you might want to consider steel feet to be a little stronger.

Here is a link to the write up I did on the full rack.

I see it now. I was thinking those were normal bolts on top. I didn’t realize the black nuts inside. I imagine I’ll need a very small wrench to snug those up? Any tips or tricks to doing that? Thank you!

Some really cool ideas here for using tracks. You'll prob never have a problem with those, but at least one guy on here had his rtt destroy the tracks (hard core off roading).

I went with rhino gutter plates and FR feet. Another option to consider.20200215_183720.jpg
