i am on the fence about purchasing an extended warranty. i never have for any vehicle and never wished i had.

this site is both a blessing and curse. i have learned a lot about my truck because of TW. had i never visited and joined, i likely would not be aware of some of the issues these trucks can have. i believe and hope they are rare, so rare that the issues are statistically zero.

i struggle with spending money for an extended warranty for a toyota of all vehicles. i always believed that if the vehicle made it to the end of the warranty period, was maintained and not abused, it would make it 200K miles....as it should.

with most things in life, peoples risk tolerance varies. i can't decide.....but will likely roll the dice and not purchase an extended warranty.

Just as an FYI for those that may not be aware, Jerry is probably the cheapest in the US. When I purchased my Off Road I asked if they could meet Jerry's $1795 price for 10 year, 125,000, 0 deductible platinum plan. He showed me the price sheet that showed that was only $100 over cost. So I would DEFINITELY recommend getting it from Jerry. He makes his money on volume and can offer prices lower than just about anybody.

I purchased a 3rd party extended warranty when I bought the truck. Got high pressured into the purchase at the stealership . About 2 weeks later after talking to several mechanics I cancelled the 3rd party warranty and got my money back. It was going to cost 2500 bucks and did not cover everything. Then after reading about Jerry on the TW site I decided to send an email and got an immediate response from Jerry. He offered a Toyota 10 year 100,000 mile warranty for about 1400 bucks and it covered most everything. My biggest concern was the plastic pipe for coolant at the back of the motor and from all reports this was covered by the Toyota warranty. It was either worry and spend 1300 if the repair was needed or spend 1400 for full coverage for 10 years and 100,000 miles. To me it was a no brainer (which describes me well).

Troy Dietrich at Toyota of Greenfield (MA) had the same pricing as Jerry back in Sept of 2022. I bought the 10yr 100k miles platinum with 0 deductible for $1,360. Not only did my dealership want about double that price, but because it's a SE Toyota dealer they won't sell the Toyota/TFS warranty. Have to use JM&A/Fidelity Warranty. No thanks.

I just shot Jerry an email! How does this warranty work for someone who is not in that state? My local dealership quoted me a 5 year, 100k mile warranty at $3700. Covers everything but that seems to be nearly 4x as much as this Midwest warranty. What's the catch?? I'm from New England so I'd need my warranty to apply to this area. Any help is appreciated.

they just want to make money. The warranty your dealership was offering and the warranty that Jerry offers is the exact same warranty. There is no difference they are both Toyota extended warranties.

Jerry sells them at $100 or so over cost. Your dealership wants to make pretty much double

move 2 states away and see what it covers
also check the fine print for things like all maintenance must be done by their service center

My truck will be 2years old come July 2nd.
It has 12,800 miles on it.
Been lifted 3.50" bolt on Rough Country
    20x12 -51 offset wheels.

Wonder if I can get extended warranty from Jerry?
If so will I get paper documents for warranty?
Will warranty cover everything that may be needed if something fails? I have a good dealership near me (Fox Toyota in Clinton Tennessee) that I use. Will Fox Toyota honor this warranty? Will I have to let them do all service work? Most importantly WILL I HAVE TO PAY ANY MONEY OUT OF POCKET FOR SERVICES?

I want ALL FLUID CHANGES (differential, transmission etc) done at 30,00 ....will dealership go by only Toyota recommendations? Or will they change fluids at my request? Im not waiting until 60,000 to have this done.

The warranties that Jerry sells are 100% Toyota extended warranties. You shouldn’t have any issues with warranty coverage repairs. Keep in mind your modifications can affect coverage on related systems. As in your left could affect a CV axle shaft, boot warranty or something along that nature.

Yes you’ll get paperwork. Yes, it’s verifiable through the dealerships. Yes it’s a warranty that can be used in any dealership in US or Canada.

The warranty do not cover servicing such as fluid changes. That is maintenance, that is not a warranty item it will not be covered. They will not do it.

If dealership schedules me for an appointment to have truck serviced (brakes, battery replacement etc)basically anything maintenance wise I would need to do this or it would void the warranty?

For example If I were to take it to have oil changed and in the process they see something that needs to be replaced like brakes, battery, plugs, tire rotation etc.(maintenance) I would have to have it done and pay for it myself or they could void the warranty?
Ive had several people tell me dealerships will try to find a way to void warranty.

I suppose that really depends on the dealer itself. Over the years of having new cars and dealing with dealerships. I really haven’t had any issues whatsoever. I do 95% of my own service. I document it well and I try to keep receipts.

Maybe I have been lucky but I have never had a warranty claim refused. For your actual questions and concerns, I would highly suggest you go make an appointment and speak with your local dealerships service manager. I would not discuss this with a service writer at the desk, I would want to get this directly from the service manager.

this is how they offer "free lifetime" warranties. The dealer usually requires you to preform all suggested work or they will not honor. You are just financing a warranty no other will dealer honor, via yearly "induction cleaning" and other unnecessary methods. If one wanted to actually keep and did the paperwork, you'd find they cost much more than a factory warranty that is good across the dealer network and goes by the actual book.

    Free comes at a cost.
