    What do you guys think about the extended travel cv axles? Are they worth it? And do they even work correctly on a 3 inch lifted truck.
    Let me know.
    I’m referencing the Napa cv axles.

    Pretty sure @Kwikvette has those.

    For a 3" lift, you'll also need to worry about your suspension alignment, and will likely need aftermarket upper control arms.

    Just look them up and add Tacomaworld and my username as part of your search.

    Posted plenty of pics, and even a short video of how they physically extend and collapse.

    Awesome CV axles, but the boots don't last as long.

    I did myself a favor and just bought a Land Cruiser instead for some real flex :burp:

    I bought the ones off Oreilly. I'll see how long they last.

    @Cole@1234

    When I first bought them, back in 2020 -

    20201102_201539.jpg

    First installed, just before putting them through the paces -

    20210116_123932.jpg

    After many wheeling sessions, a good +15k miles at this point -

    20210727_133052.jpg

    20210727_133038.jpg

    Taking advantage of their added droop compared to stock -

    IMG-20210827-WA0006.jpg

    Hard to pin point when exactly the boots ripped (on both sides) but I'd venture to say around the 7k mark.

    With the boot torn, you can see the assembly and how it extends/collapses -

    20210828_104601.jpg

    Pushing 20k miles, and I still ventured out in sand, snow, water, etc without fail -

    20220102_121259.jpg

    Then I got rid of the rig.

    I'd say the CV axles had a good +25k miles on each, with a majority of them being with torn boots.

    Being exposed to water, mud, sand, snow, and whatever else I dunked my 4R to couldn't have been good for said axles but they never clicked, rattled, or fail apart and/or broke. You can ask those that have gone wheeling with me, I was no stranger to the skinny pedal either.

    @Kwikvette

    Thanks man! I think I’ll do that with this lift, and keep the OEM ones in the tool box when I go wheeling that way u have a spare. I appreciate the time.

    You're right, they're not.

    Though I posted as if they were because both Napa and O'Reilly's came out with them at the same time.

    They both listed the same 'generic' pic so I'm surprised to see the pic the OP posted.

    Curious to see who makes the particular set posted.

    Even with said axles, I would advise you (and anyone reading this) to keep their lift at 2"

    You maintain some needed droop for when you off-road, you remove some preload (going from 3" to 2") for better ride quality, and you don't risk ruining your CV axle boots so quickly.

    Has to be a trick question; the real answer is 40s n tons.

    But 35s?

    Easy. Buy a Land Cruiser and you can do it with no lift.

    Or just trim the shit out of said Tacoma :sawzall:
