For those storing in the bed. With heavy snow (both volume and weight), are you just digging it out to use it?

Of course, I have a Tonneau. Posters haven't been specific about that. I'm envisioning an empty bed full of snow.

When I was still living in Washington state and ski patrolling with my F-150 with high rise canopy I just carried a shop push broom. Kept it in the bed. I could clear my whole truck covered with a foot or two of snow in about 30 seconds. For ice a long extendable handle Ice scraper with brush was the second tool.

On the floor behind the seat. I've been using this brush for the past 10 years or so and really like it. Extendable (not shown in pics), large flat blade for snow clearing, other side of blade fits perfectly between the hood and wipers to clear snow, and scraper.

Speaking of "freezing" ... once freezing rain becomes a casket around the car, you need more than a "broom" ...

Freezing rain is a no brainer. Even if you can get in the roads are going to be the worse. Time to just go back inside and wait for it to thaw.

On big snowstorms I will toss a soft, fine bristled push broom in the bed and a flat blade shovel just in case I get stuck. I’m a nazi in clearing snow off the entire truck so it doesn’t fly off on the freeway. The push broom works great on the roof and hood.

Yes, the Snow Burm is the way to go if you have to remove more than 2" of snow on top of the truck. Snow brushes are handy for removing light snow from the windshield and between the hood and the wipers, from the windows, and so on, all after the original Snow Bum or a similar snow remover. Some of these Snow Burm designs (lots of copies out there), have extendable handless from 36" (collapsed), to 64" extended. The ones I use have full length fiberglass broom handles, so they stay at home (one for my Tundra, and the other for my wife's tacoma). On the road we keep a brush, and a Snow Burm with extendable handles. The brushes stay on the floor between the front and rear seats, and the Snow Burm's inside the topper at the back of the trucks.

Ahh the days of getting up at 4:30 AM to start the freezing cold vehicle to drive 2 hours to go ski patrolling. I only had a 2 door Corolla though not a nice big pick me up. Super easy to get snow off Corolla though and warmed up fast. Those were the days !
