I have an Extang solid fold and it has always leaked like crazy...it is 1.5 years old. After soaking my wifes luggage completely and having her very upset at me for spending $850 on it, I began trying to seal it up. I first sealed the tailgate to the bed and then sealed gaps behind cab where the cover's seal was cut too short. All attempts were unsuccessful. After 1.5 years, I had enough and started researching it; what I found was many similar reports of excessive volumes of water in the bed (more than you would deem "acceptable for a folding cover"). It appeared that the panels were leaking at the aluminum channels near the hinges (but not the actual hinges). I then ran a test and confirmed the problem. Upon speaking to the dealership where it was purchased, they recommended that i contact Extang and ask them to issue refund as there is a 3 year warranty. Extang was not very polite about it. I tried to explain the actual problem that I had found and they stated "Sir we don't need to see your video. Just send us a picture of water in the bed and we will send you a new seal." I tried to explain that they didn't even know what seal to send because they haven't heard me out. It was a very rushed and frustrating conversation. I proceeded to tell them that it was not an isolated incident and that I did not have confidence in the design. Additionally, I argued that no one is denying my claims of a fundamental design issue and that I did not have time to take on some repair project for a warrantied $850 cover. I wanted a refund; none would be given. A seal kit was my option and they told me that I somehow broke it (P.S. I am a mechanical engineer - I design 15,000 psi 500F seals for high pressure gas wells - but no matter - no one deserves to be treated like they are an idiot). So Back to the Local dealership - they took over and I am getting a new cover... Supposedly a new model... I am skeptical that this new cover will hold water since Extang has not owned up to the issue. I am also concerned that some folks report similar leaking after owning for a year or more and next time there may not be a warranty (yeah I know there are glues/sealants - but that is besides the point). Please be aware of my unfortunate experience and also know that I have owned a BAKflip cover for my Tundra and it was just fine!

Here is the display in the dealership:

Need I say more? Please share if you have had a similar experience.
    Thanks!

    None.
I'm completely unable to get a hold of them via multiple attempts. I've called multiple times and posted on their Instagram and even commented on their YouTube videos. NO RESPONSE. The company I bought it from also cannot get a hold of them. I'm worried I'll be screwed with a crappy cover here soon. It's already sliding around and I can't get it to stay in place. I'm getting really frustrated.

I know these posts were old but I have a new Extang cover and it leaks. I had a Weathertech Alloy cover on my F-250 and it never leaked. I am very disappointed with this cover. I will use it for a while and probably go back to Weathertech.

My experience did not improve much after this post. Good luck!
