Just got my Snugtop Rebel. Over all the fit and finish is great. Paint is as nice as stock and it looks great.

Noticed today the wrap around bed rail cover edges are just exposed fiberglass. Is this how all Snugtops are? Mostly concerned that there are already fibers sticking out of it and I don't want it to chip or break. Top is awesome except for that.

Mine doesn't look like that. I'd be displeased.

It's like that all the way around. Almost like they forgot to finish it after getting it painted.

I'm going to call the dealer in the am. Sucks that they are 120 miles from me though.

Anyone with a Rebel able to take a pic of theirs? Thanks.

I would post pics here and also ask for other Rebel owners to chime in there as well.

I just got a new SnugTop Rebel a few weeks ago and mine looks like that too. It's too dark in my garage for a good picture right now. I guess I'm tall enough that I never see the underside edge and it really doesn't bother me. I bet if you looked at most new shells from any manufacturer they would all look like that. If it really bothers you that much you could take a little sandpaper and carefully sand the inside edge a little bit, and maybe try putting some masking tape on the side and applying some touch up paint to the underside edge.

I'm mostly just worried with time it will weather poorly. I don't know much about fiberglass though other than bits of fiber should probably not be flapping in the wind.

I just had my Rebel installed about six weeks ago. The dealer recommended an additional sealant to be applied over the fiberglass to prevent shedding especially inside. Mine looks like this for reference. image.jpg

Leers are popular here in Maine and I'm on my 2nd one. Both had edges like this. I had my F150 & cap for 12 yrs....no issues.
Now I'm on year 4 with the Tacoma & cap with no issues.

Never applied any type of sealant.

I have a rebel and don't have anything that looks like that anywhere on the cap. I have a few pix in my gallery but nothing close up. Bought mine in dec 2014. I can get some close up pix but not sure exactly what part you're looking at. Let me know and I'll get some close ups.

Wow!! Never owned a topper before. Snugtop has been at the top of my list after researching online though.

I'd be more than displeased to see this. Could be big enough that it would prevent me from buying a Snugtop if that's normal for them. Never, ever seen a topper on a pickup with fiberglass sticking out. Why wouldn't the bottom be sealed??

My XTR isn't painted under there, but looks pretty smooth....looks like it either didn't get sanded up when the mold was pulled, or it got beat up when off the truck. As stated above, put some frog tape on the outside to protect the paint and hit it with a sanding block with some fine grit paper....wear gloves though as that stuff is real itchy!

Contacted Snugtop, they referred me to the dealer. I'm going to got the dealer on August 4th and see what they say. I think this is beyond just sanding or sealing as there are chips starting to form in a very short time and pieces falling off. I think they forgot to seal it.

That's retarded, especially for those prices.
