Why is the 265/70/17 Pathfinder so expensive? Also why is it $50 more the 285/70/17 Pathfinder? @Discount Tire

Are they the same load rating, because I found there are huge price differences between tires of different load ratings.

The only difference is the 265 has raised outlined white letters on one side.

Maybe they have excess 285's to get rid of? but yeah pricing on tires has always been a mystery to me.

@gotoman1969 current pricing at the store level is $189.00 for the 265/70R17 Pathfinder A/T article number 26167, and $198.00 for the P285/70R17 Pathfinder A/T article number 26199. Did you have a link to the price discrepancy you are addressing?

You have to shop. My Michelins were $40.00 dollar’s cheaper (each) than Tire rack had them. Supposedly Tire Rack is the same or “sister” tire retailer.

@gotoman1969 did you in fact have the tires installed Friday, and if so was the store willing to match the on line price?

I've seen this happen a lot. I've always attributed it to being a more popular/standard size, and therefore more mass produced and therefore cheaper, even though its bigger. I've upscaled slightly like this like 3 times and saved hundreds.

Yes. Tires went on. Store honored the online price. What’s really interesting was when they looked up the tires in the computer they came up at the prices online in the computer that I showed above. Then the other day prices corrected so I ended up taking the 265 Rocky Mountains off my wife’s 4runner and put the Pathfinder Ats on it and paid the difference. All in all no issues. DT has always taken care of me, I buy lots of tires.
