Has anyone got any photos of their 3rd Gen with the Expedition One Dual Swing Out bumper? I’ve been looking for a swing out and figured it would be nicer to have less of a swing radius in the woods. It’s one of the very very few duals out there and by far the cleanest.

Looks nice but also looks like a pain in the ass when opening the tailgate

Less of a swing radius in the woods. Are you driving through the woods with the swingouts swung out?

How is this any different than any other swingout rear bumper?

That’s one thing I was looking at too. My lady and I sleep in the shell almost every weekend on climbing trips so the gate would be down a lot. Hopefully someone can clear up some of the pros and cons before I decide I don’t feel like spending the $$$ anymore.

Dual swing outs are nice. I’m not quite sure why they aren’t more popular.

I had @C4 Fabrication make mine but not sure if they are willing to take “custom” orders.

When your stuck or wheeling and you need in the bed in tight spaces it helps . But not as much as no swingout at all .

I thought that would be an easy thing to pick up on.

Take for instance you’re out in a climbing/ OR area that you camp on a turnout or what not with lots of trees/ rocks around and don’t have close to 5’ of space to swing a tire carrier open it’d be nice to have two 2.5’ swing out to open in either direction.

Sounds like a stretch to create a need for a 1/1000 situation.

a lot of the areas I camp and climb in here in SoCal have tight areas you can camp in. We sleep in the shell when we’re out so it’s nice to have the ability to swing both.

You literally drove a 20x7x7 foot vehicle into a space so tight you cant swing open a tire carrier? Come on, you're really digging for an excuse here. If you want a bumper with a dual swing, just get one. Dont come in here trying to convince people you camp in such tight spaces you cant swing open a tire carrier. How did you get the truck into this theoretical spot and how are you going to get out of it? Can we be a little more realistic please?

I’ve seen it as well (not in SoCal). There are some climbing places I’ve been to where you can literally high-five people belaying while driving on the road or their vehicle.

When you have a couple cars packed in a turnout next to a crack having a couple extra feet is nice.

someone has obviously not camped in the Needles, or up by black bluffs, or Yosemite on the fire access trails during peak climbing season in California. There’s multiple areas you’re between tress or boulders you wouldn’t be able to open a full swing out bumper. It’s not some ruse to bicker on TW, if you don’t like the question or have some worthwhile feedback on the bumper or a better model then you can simply leave the thread be.

Fuck camping... what about a typical parking lot? If you back into a space (I usually do) a person could easily pull in too close behind you and prevent a single swing out from opening, where a dual "might" be able to open.

Regardless... OP, I'd need to see more photos or one in person, but that bumper looks very clean. I'd only be concerned about the strength/clearance of those swingouts. I've seen people back their tire carriers into trees when turning around on the trail. I'd hate to have the carrier act as a damage multiplier on my tailgate. Make sure they're sturdy and can take a bump.
