Unique question I know but does anyone know the purpose of the exhaust tip other than looks and sound?

Is anyone running their Tacoma with the exhaust tip removed?

    Just curious!

1F21B1FA-1AA3-4BDC-8AE6-457D2C30B454.jpg I think polished stainless just looks better than a rusty pipe. Edit: Oh and I found it in a discount store open without a box or price tag. I took it to the cash and said I wanted to buy what I think is a tooth brush holder but it’s missing the bottom. The Manager gave it a once over and said $1.99 plus tax. Alright... I’ll take it

This is true that it's mostly bling, Serves no real purpose other than appearance, is better than
an ugly rusty or muddy pipe.

Anyone who tells you it adds performance is trying to sell you a tip.
A muffler tip is like a bumper sticker. It’s for ppl to look at and that’s it. Rims can make you slower or faster by weight reduction or increase. Tip don’t change air flow either way. I seen ppl put a 8” exhaust tip on a 3” pipe looks stupid. Also seen ppl put a double tip on a single pipe and call it dual. Both are False advertising

I put a bad ass black chrome tip, brand new 1/4” larger mandrel bend piping cat back, with magna flow high output exhaust muffler, TRD intake set up along with K&N filter. Around $700 later, all add ons combined, I gained about 3-7hp tops. It’s mostly a sound and cosmetic upgrade.

I got the black chrome exhaust tip because I wanted to be cool. then I realized it will almost always be dirty and caked with mud, salt, dirt, what have you, not 5 minutes after you wash the truck.

    Truth.

Anyone who calls a black chrome tip badass is slightly touched in the head. :boink:

I love it when the truth is spoken. Your setup looks nice. :hattip:

The black chrome tip was standard.

Careful. That's getting kinda racy, pulling stuff like that off.

Of course many of us don't have one to remove. We were OE racy. :anonymous:

I cut my exhaust immediately after the down-turn where it clears the rear axle. A pipe sitting behind the rear tire doesn't last long on the rocks. Truck looks better with no visible exhaust pipe too.
