I'd like my Taco to sound louder, and I think muffler delete is a bad idea. Someone I know had a late 90s V6 Mustang that sounded like a V8 and I want to try to replicate something like that. And I also don't want a fart cannon lol.

First of all, what do you guys have? I was looking at Flowmaster but I don't know the difference between American Thunder, dBX and FlowFX. I heard Magnaflow is good too but I don't see many options for my Tacoma. Are there better options? Thanks!

I have a 22” magnaflow and no cats. It doesn’t get too loud/raspy and sound like shit but isn’t quiet either. Flowmaster sounds like shit, IMO.

I'm running a magnaflow catback system and it sounds pretty good, not V8 sound by any means but not bad.
Has a nice burble at idle especially when the A/C kicks on, it's pretty quiet down low but it gets loud if you get on it.

Someone did a decent exhaust comparison/compilation for the Tacoma's here, it's not the greatest but kind of gives an idea of how each one sounds.

I’m running the MBRP 3” full-stainless off-road exhaust. It has basically a straight through muffler design, and a down pipe tip that dumps before the rear axle… not after like 99% of others. You’ll never smash this thing off-roading! Has a very deep sound to it. A little bit of in-cab drone, but that’s to be expected. I’m super happy with it, and priced under $350. Would definitely buy again if given the chance!

I’m running the same exhaust is Taco1004 and I love it I just put it on last week completely stainless steel, has that little growl to it. but I do have a cold air intake which helps out with that deep tone
    but I love it

I have a afe exhaust at the moment but the muffler has a big dent and its rusted to shit so I'm swapping it this weekend for a FM 50s delta flow.

I can Chime in! I needed to replace both stock cats and the guys at the shop were like "for a little extra, why not let us rebuild the full exhaust " so for a sweet price i got two new cats, a resonator and a large Magnaflow with no tip because the end was tucked high for better ground clearance. I drive a lot of long distance/mountain stuff and the only downside is when you need to run higher rpm to maintain speed it can get a little dronie. I liked to drive the truck before but now i love to drive it. Iv been next to those silly BRZ/86 rice rocket cars and my truck sounded way better so that's a win, i think the resonator was key.

I think this what I'm going to get! They're just out of stock rn so I'm just going to have to wait a while.

Edit: Actually not the exact one because that's for 2016+

Probably this one unless someone can convince me otherwise lol

I think it’s the way to go. It’s tucked up high and easy to install. Won’t have to worry about hitting it on anything

You’ll be stoked once you hear it. And check eBay for your part number… they show up on there from time to time new and lower priced than MSRP. Good luck! Post up pics when you grab one!
