nice how close is that to the U-joint? maybe some sort of insulated wrap to keep the heat away from the U-joint.

Sounds essentially the same. No felt performance improvement, but it's tucked up really nice. It's not as close to the U-Joint as it looks in the picture.

Why isn't it designed like this to begin with? I always wonder that when I look at how they ran it.

Around 8 inches away. I doubt indirect exhaust heat really has any effect on u-joints.

Hoping URD or someone makes a complete Y-pipe...that crimp in the Y annoys me.

The crimp won't affect flow or power at all

I know; still annoys me. Besides, I'd like a nice bolt in piece; don't trust the local yokals.

Roadkill garage from hotrod magazine took a sledge hammer to headers on a dyno which revealed little to no change (and actually an increase *slightly* in performance numbers) when they bashed then

Got a link? I'd be interested in seeing that. I'm building a 302 and may eventually up it to a 347. If I don't need to up the headers I'll be happy.

that was my question. For a little more than 95 dollars, im sure they can add a heat shield on that side of the pipe before it's installed. But I'm sure it would cost more than that here in California
