I have changed my OEM seat covers before. The last time was about 4 years ago. Looking at my seats in the shop tonight, they look pretty bad. Lets try it...

For the test I removed the left rear bottom seat cover. Used about 10 drops of dawn dish soap in a bath tub of hot water about 1/4 full and the shower spayer. Washed it, hung the cover in front of a high velocity fan for about an hour until dry.

10 minutes to remove the cover
10 minutes to wash the cover
    1 hour to dry
    10 minutes to reinstall

When i do the rest, I'll do them all at one time, so obviously wont take that long for each cover.

TIP... when installing covers use zip-ties, just cut the metal rings and toss them!

Finally, a way to get rid of that "fart smell" my fiancee complains about.

Good write-up. I'm glad to see that I could do this if I needed to. However, I've got a carpet cleaner with an upholstery attachment that works pretty well for cleaning the truck seats so I'll probably not mess with taking the covers off unless the foam needs replacing or there is a major spill. It's supposed to be nice here in a few days so I might get out and give the Tacoma a Spring Clean then.

I used zip ties when I installed my heated seats instead of hog rings. I tried cleaning mine but still have stains and the driver side fabric where you enter is wearing thin

I recently used Resolve powder carpet cleaner on my cloth Highlander seats with success. Brush it on, let it dry, vacuum off.

Just for a comparison, here is after both sides were washed.
