After my engine light and TRAC OFF light came on, I have two confirmed two PID codes on my 2012 Tacoma / 4.0 L that indicate there is a problem existing with the Evaporative Emission system.

Code one is P0441, Evaporative emission system Incorrect purge flow
Code Two is P0455, Evaporative Emission system Leak Detected (Large leak)

Has anyone dealt with these two problems before? What causes this problem? What should I look for, where should I look, part replacement that will stop the leak.

I haven't noticed any difference in the vehicles operation, performance, or fuel consumption. I want to correct the problem and avoid having it become a larger problem over time.

I appreciate any advice that would help steer me in the direction to correct this problem.

Thank you in advance for your help.

put some grease around the O ring on your gas cap that seals to the filler neck, clear codes. If they come back then start diagnosing further.

When you fuel up, after the pump clicks do you give it a bit more till it either clicks again or to round the payment?

If so, do not do it any more.
It is detrimental to the Charcoal Canister.
It is cumulative, so doing it once or twice with no issues, doesn’t mean it won’t cause a problem later.

I will still go with, Gas Cap.
This is the easiest to “fix”.
Next would be the evap hoses. Just because it’s “free” to look.

Yep, this is basically where I was going with that but less detail. I use to have a '99 camry that had that happen.

Yes, sometimes I do top off the fuel tank after the nozzle shuts off. I mainly do this to round out the total cost. I'll avoid this practice from now on. I just recently replaced the fuel cap with a new OEM cap. So far no activation of the engine light.

Thank you all for providing your advice and troubleshooting recommendations.

Stay safe and have a good week.
