I understand the noise coming from my truck upon shut down and there after is the emissions/evap system. With this knowledge I wonder aloud, with hopes that you, the TW community, would have a better idea. But does this system have the ability to drain the battery if the vehicle is left over time? Or does this only do the systems check once after X amount of hours post shut off?

I ask because I work a 3 week (21 day) rotation 800 miles away. I leave my truck at home where it usually sits in the driveway. I usually have my roommate drive it at least once while I'm away. This current shift he notified me that after just shy of 2 weeks the battery was dead. I've never had this problem before, as this is a new truck (just at 3k miles). We have had a cold snap in Anchorage where we saw temperatures in the negative single digits to zero for a few days and I don't have a heated battery blanket, just a block heater.

Is the dead battery a case of 2 factors (cold and evap/emissions)? Or is the OEM battery just not rated for cold temperatures? I never had this problem with my previous vehicles in which I always used Costco batteries.

Did you ever figure this out? I appear to have an over active evap test for some reason and, combined with the supercharger intercooler that runs at the same time, it drains the battery pretty quickly in cold weather and high altitudes.

I did not ever follow up on this. It turns out my dead battery at the time was just a symptom of a defected battery from the factory. I ended up replacing it shortly after and haven't had any problems since. I do however possess a garage now so the truck no longer sits in the cold for 3 weeks at a time.

Gotcha. I unfortunately have a super over active evap tester. It goes off seemingly randomly and repeatedly, sometimes starting after I've only had the truck shut down for 10 minutes. Since I have the supercharger the intercooler spins as well, adding additional load to the drain.
