See now I think that was constructive!

I didn’t get my feelings hurt I just thought his comments were not helpful. A simple “ you need a 10mm, 14mm, BFH and the rest is personal choice” would have been good. I have my kit already but thought I would get some more info on things I might not have thought of. Some people have there every day kit and add based on what they will be doing. I was just thinking of an every day kit, but maybe that is not a thing here, and that is good info as well

Im on IH8MUD as well for my LC. I get it.

I worked 30 years in a career that requires thicker skin than this....Just some times things need to be called out to bring back a more constructive conversation.

I have a small channel lock tool set with sae/metric socket sets, screwdrivers etc, and an ammo can of other tools and accessories adjustable wrenches, various pliers vice grips, tire plug kit pump, road flares. Don’t need them much for the truck as I do for fixing other shit. Kids bikes, boat/rv repairs etc. when I was cleaning my 4Runner out when buying the Tacoma I probably looked like a serial killer. Pulling out knives, duct tape, tarps etc etc I had squirreled away in there. I have a small suv truck bin that holds everything I normally need probably 60lbs. I haven’t wheeled the taco much yet. But have a separate bit of gear I’d bring for off-roading in the 4runner. Synthetic rope Wyeth-Scott “More power puller” (really high end hand winch basically) high lift Jack, additional straps & chain. that stuff adds some extra weight but the tools I bring just adapt over time based on needs. I hate being somewhere and not being able to fix minor things, but I don’t plan to need to fix the truck itself.

You're posting on a public forum. You are going to get answers you don't like.

I literally told you just what you said, what my everyday kit is and what you think you need....Do I really need to tell you 3 times I carry two torque wrenches...

Looks like I gave you a A simple “ you need a 10mm, 14mm, BFH and the rest is personal choice”

trying to rewrite history here...this was your first bit of sage advise. Not until post #45 did you say torque wrench twice in the same post.

thanks for the torque wrench advised for changing a tire.

Always bring wire now after breaking rear a u-joint in a cj-5 and using a wire coat hanger to suspend the rear drive shaft and drove home in 4high. It was cold af that night and I wasn’t laying on the chisel plowed ground in a field long enough to remove it.

Good info. Had some heavy duty and long zip ties that I used once to tie ups my sons drive shaft on his 4Runner. But wire may be more useful and universal.
    Thanks.

yes bailing wire is very useful holding stuff together to limp the truck off the trail, same with ratchet straps. Always have ratchet straps

Zip ties and duct tape.... my dudes.

Well, and ratchet straps, as they can hold a lot of stuff in place as you limp off a trail.

You should be good with that. I suggest an extinguisher still and Max Trx or recovery strap. Winch would be ideal if you're alone. If Tacoma's come with a bottle jack that should be fine if not I'd get a bottle jack, I used that more than a Hi Lift.

    Hey that's me!

Those tools are a compilation of all my trail repairs, whether it was on my truck or someone elses. With that I'll be able to change broken CV's, pull a rear diff apart, change diff fluid, pull spark plugs in case of hydrolock, etc.

Not in that pic is wheel chocks, a single 6 ton jack stand and a torque wrench but those are in my other tote that carries spare parts and fluids.
