So I just got done installing the newest version "universal" Android headunit from Eonon into my 3rd Gen. The UA13SK-Plus (6gb/64gb) which comes with Android 13 and it is UNDER $300.00 !!!

This is the 2nd Eonon headunit I have purchased and installed. The previous version (Eonon UA12S-Plus) is installed in my WRX Wagon and has been flawless for over 6 months now. THAT headunit and my experience with it, is the primary reason I purchased this new unit to install in my 2018 TRD OR DCSB 4x4 (non JBL).

What I can tell you is that this thing is amazing. It is almost plug and play, however, that being said, you do have to purchase the correct harnesses from AutoHarnesshouse.com along with a Metra 99-8251B install kit AND the Pac Audio USB harness in order to retain the OEM USB port in the dash below the AC controls but that is it. The ONLY wire I had to run from the Eonon supplied harnesses was the AMP turn on wire to my sub amp.

Brian at AutoHarnessHouse.com was AMAZING and assured me after seeing the pictures I sent him of the Eonon harnesses that his (2) harnesses would make my install as close to plug and play as possible and he was absolutely correct:

    (1) AHH-ATOTOBUC - This is the harness/connector that makes the OEM backup camera plug and play.
    (2) AHH-70-1761ATOTO-A6PF - The is the main harness that connects all speakers, power, ACC etc. antenna lead and power, and is really the main harness interface to the Eonon.

With these 2 harnesses from AutoHarnessHouse.com and the USB harness/connector plus an RCA Y cable from the sub out on the HU to my sub amp, this unit WAS plug and play and everything worked out of the box with the exception of the factory mic for calls and the factory GPS antenna. I ordered a lavalier mic from Amazon to use in place of the included mic from Eonon because in my WRX, the mic that came with the UA12S-Plus was garbage, so I just assumed the mic that came with this unit would also be crap and it was. The lav mic I purchased is the "Pop-Voice 12.8 feet lavalier lapel mic" and it cost me $9.00.
Literally everything else just worked. I did NOT have to interface with canbus for steering wheel controls, nor did I have to spend hours trying various non-tacoma specific canbus options to get steering wheel controls working. I just clicked on the steering wheel control tab in the settings menu, pressed a button on the steering wheel and assigned it to the function that I wanted and it simply worked.

Backup camera worked with zero issues, other than the factory "limit" lines that you see/saw in the back up camera view with the Entune unit, are replaced with Eonon's version of the same thing. My backup chimes/warnings still work and the image on screen looks every bit as good as it did with the Entune, in fact, i'd say it looks better.

I use OSMand offline maps, but google maps works just fine. I however, prefer offline maps and love OSMand. I also use AIMP for the music I store on USB thumb drives and have been perfectly happy with it as an application. I use NavRadio (Free) for my radio app and love it.

Youtube video plays flawlessly as does Netflix which comes pre-installed, and as you can see in the video, I use Agama car launcher, which I paid for but have not yet authorized on this system.

I run front and rear speakers off the built in amp (45 watts per channel) and am running a Stinger 1000 watt amp @ 1ohm to a Skar loaded 10" sub enclosure behind the rear passenger seat. The amp and sub give me all the boom I need/want as an older dude and honestly this thing sounds amazing to me. At some point, I will probably buy a 5 channel amp to power the front and rear speakers, and keep the 1K watt sub amp for the sub. 45 watts to the front/rears is ok for now, but I can tell that I am going to want a little more oomph out of the system, but for now, this is just fine.

This unit is NOT an OEM looking replacement. It is a 10.1" "universal" double din unit with a tilt and swivel screen and for me, it is the perfect size for my older eyeballs. I also chose this option because I like the screen pointed slightly my direction as seen from the drivers seat. That also helps with glare from the sun. The fit and finish of this unit with the Metra kit I mentioned above makes this thing look like it belongs where it is. There are no gaps in the bezel/fitment behind the screen, and the fact that you can adjust the height of the screen means you can perfectly place the screen to your liking. You don't get too much left to right "pan" adjustment because of the dash trim, but there IS enough to get the screen angled toward you enough to make it bitchen.

Here is a little video I took tonight. I will get some more pics during the daylight tomorrow to highlight the installation and just how clean it looks behind the screen etc.

If anyone is considering an Android HU replacement, DEFINITELY give the Eonon UA13SK-Plus a look. I am super stoked with it.

    Very nice!

The h/u face angle on my crappy non adjustable Kenwood 7" is horrible. I believe its a metro kit? I'm not sure if thats the o.e. radio position as I had another h/u in it when I got the truck. Your eyeballs would have to be on the headliner to have the right viewing angle. Is that a gen2 Tacoma thing??

Looking for an HU for my 2nd gen...I like that the display can be tilted toward the driver! Does the display detach easily as a theft deterrent?

It does, but I would not detach the screen everytime I get out of the truck. The display is connected to the headunit via MIPI cable and I imagine it is a point of failure with repeated disconnecting/reconnecting.

I got in touch with Eonon through Amazon and the CSR said it was ok to plug and unplug. I looked at the manual and it looks like the cable might be a little short for what I have in mind. Other than the plug, how difficult is the screen to remove and replace? And this is for a 2nd gen...did you need to enlarge the opening on the frame? It looks like the opening required is a little larger than the 2 DIN dimensions.

No, the opening, at least on my 3rd Gen was actually larger than the size of the base unit of the Eonon. So, the Metra dash kit takes up that extra space allowing the clean/snug fit around the bezel area. The 3rd Gen opening is not standard double din size. It is larger.

The screen has grip handles on the back side that are spring loaded, so you grab one with each hand, pull outward and that releases the spring loaded catch (vertical adjustment ratchets for lack of a better term) and the screen just lifts upward and slides off of the mount.

Oh man there has to be at least a dozen wires, none are shielded that I know of, but they are tiny wires. If had to guess, id say 40ga if that. A solder joint on wire that small is going to be a challenge. That aircraft connector you referenced is not going to cut it.
