I have a 2014 Tacoma Sport. I have the entune with navigation and I cannot figure out how to use the text message app. I have tried configuring it but nothing works. Has anyone else had a similar experience or been able to get theirs to work?
    Thanks!!!

    depends what phone you have.

Go to the Bluetooth section, press that circled i.

It should bring you to this. And just turn on Show Notification. See if that works.

Set mine up at the dealer. The text message app works about 85% of the time. Every once in a while, I will hear my text notification and nothing pops up on the Entune screen.

Text messaging on my Entune radio only works when the message "buffer" on my Android - Motorola Razr Max HD phone, is empty. After I clear all text threads from my phone, it works like a champ. If I keep messages, after the next restart, I can send text messages from the Entune radio, but, I can't receive them until I clear my phone again.

The video i posted is for iphone, i have iphone 4s, 5c & 5s and they all work. As the video shows and Adio posted, on the phone you have to go to Settings>Bluetooth>My Devices. Find your vehicle under My Devices. Click the circled "i" then slide the "Show Notifications" to Green. Then it should work.

I suspect it is not the buffer, per say, but MMS messages in the list. My N5 works fine for SMS, but as soon as an MMS shows up Entune can no longer connect. Thought it was an ROM issue for a long time until I figured this out.

All I can do is refer to my original post -If I start with all text threads deleted on my phone, I can receive Entune SMS messages all day long as long as I don't turn off the radio (I have no experience with MMS on my Entune). After a restart, if I don't delete the text threads on my phone, all I can do is send texts, not receive.
Update: I had been using the default text messaging app on my Android Razr Max. I downloaded and switched to the Verizon messaging app, per a suggestion from a Tundra owner, and....... The Entune messaging function now works flawlessly, with out me having to delete the threads on my phone.
Update: "uncheck" auto download of e-mail.

Text has never worked for me. Doesn't matter what text app I use. Really wish it worked.

    Using the Droid Turbo.
