Entune and iPhone Messaging

I've looked at various threads/posts and STILL cannot get this to work.

I've turned notifications ON within the connected Tacoma Bluetooth settings (on the phone)

I've forgotten the connection and did a hard restart of the phone. After this I re-paired.

NO messages pop up on the truck. The phone is paired successfully. It has all of my contacts/call history. I keep sending myself test texts and get nothing on the truck, but the phone is receiving them just fine.

WTF?? This is an iPhone 5, so I'm waiting for someone to inform me that only the 6 and above are compatible. Either that, or there is one thread with my solution that I missed.

 

I have the same problem in my 15. With both Iphone 5 and 6s. I gave up.

 

Also, my home screen is a 2-screen split (heard of issue with the 3-split).

Map and Audio.

The shitty thing is, when I got the truck home, I DID get a few messages to appear when I was screwing around with it.

It went from that to, I got a notification on the touch screen of an incoming message (plus who it was from), but READ was grayed out. Now, nothing.

 

I've never got a single message

 

Mine (iPhone 6s) works with receiving text but I can not respond. Truck says option not available with paired phone.

 

I'd be OK with that. I can respond by activating Siri from the steering wheel and using voice texting.

I mainly just want to be able to read the damn message in the truck without using the phone.

 

From what I understand the first thing you need to do is make sure you have no favorites stored in your phone. For some reason this effects the text message feature.

 

My Favorites list on my phone is empty. Entune does have any assigned favorites.

 

Maybe I got lucky.... or maybe its an iPhone 5 thing like you said. I could have sworn I read somewhere someone with a 5 had it working.

 

I have never seen it work either. My truck is tempermental about syncing with IPhone. I just gave up!

I was just wondering about this, I have mine set to display messages/notifications, but I get nothing. Sounds like it's probably some sort of software bug.

 

I did see it work once but after I updated the phone to I think iOS 9.0 or something it didn't work again.

 

I have an iPhone 6 and am having this issue as well. I noticed that if your phone is on the "do not disturb" mode, the text message notification won't show up on the trucks screen. When the notification does popup, the "read" button is grayed out like others have mentioned. I have updated everything on my phone, unlinked the phone from the truck, repaired the devices and still no go . I will have the dealer look at it when I take it in for my next oil change. Pretty annoying that a simple thing can't work correctly. Don't even get me started about the vibrations, hunting for gears, slipping when going from R to D, etc etc etc.

 

I'm using mine with an iphone 5s and I get txt messages. Haven't tried responding, because every time I get a txt I'm just about to my destination and haven't needed to.

 

iPhone 5 is finicky. If everything is working besides messaging, Try this:

Start your truck and ensure your phone connects properly. Once connected, go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and turn off and turn on 'show notifications'. Then go to the messages app on entune and set up messaging. I have to do this almost every single time I start my truck, but it works every time.

 

Mine has worked flawlessly from the beginning, however, when my daughter adds emoticons to her text messages, it will not read the message to me.

 

I just updated the iOS and it worked on the way home.

WTF? Texts popped up and would let them be read out loud, but not read on screen. We'll see if it stays like that.

 

Did you update the Entune software in the truck? I have a 5S and we paired it at the dealership before I drove off. But the salesman had me update the entune software in the truck first.

 

Not clear on how to do that. Under the settings, update, the Update button is grayed out.

Maybe it is up to date? I received the truck earlier this week. It was built last week.
