    Ugh,

First time I ever cleaned an engine yesterday with hose water and degreaser.

So I have a Toyota Tacoma 2002 and covered the battery, alternator, wires. etc.

Had about 7 bags in place.

Degreased engine and sprayed water with hose all over the place yesterday.

Well now when I start truck, it sputters and water is coming out the tailpipe, ugh.

    So,

Is it ok to run truck in idle ? Could it be spark plugs got wet ? or distributor cap ?

Help !! I'm never, ever putting water on my engine again.

Does that year have a distributor cap? If so take it off and blow out the inside of the cap. May have got moisture in there. Also if you have a compressor and blow tip, blow out around plugs, coil etc.

It's not uncommon for a engine to run a little rough after cleaning. I would let it idle a bit with hood closed to keep the heat in but would blow things off first if you can? Many times it will fix itself as it dries out.

A small amount of water coming out the exhaust while it’s cold isn’t unusual. Most likely just got water or degreaser in a plug for one of your sensors. I would start by checking all the plugs around you air intake system. Like said above just unplug them blow them out and try again. A little bit of water causing a bad reading could be all the problem is

4 or 6 cylinder? On the 4 the o-rings on the plug wires get old and will let water down around the plugs shorting it out and can cause that.

I don't mean to be critical of your post, but that was tough to understand.... "tell me" or better yet tell the OP, that's why he made the thread and we are all here to learn from your "TONS" of experience, but next time please add a few more exclamation points.

All good guys.. I'm up and running.

Blew out the cylinder #6 and some water came shooting out. Also blew out the air filter. Tacoma now runs smooth as silk.

    Put 28 miles today.

Love my 2002 Toyota Tacoma !! Next week I'm splurging for a paint job and running another 150,000 miles !!

    $6800.00 Paid in full, cash.
