I have a 4cyl 1994 extended cab pickup with manual shift. It has approximately 300K miles on the engine. I would like to replace it with an engine from a 2004 Toyota Tacoma. Is that possible? Will it fit? If not, what is the latest model year that will fit my 1994 truck?
    Thanks in advance,

There's a guy here named Russell who swapped a 3rz into his 87.

I don't know his poster name, just met up with him a few weeks ago.

I agree with TacoMX-- much easier to get a good 22RE engine or have yours rebuilt. the problem with converting to newer engines is the electronics. you need sensors, ECU, etc and then you have to get themto work together. the 22RE is a good engine-- just get one rebuitl or build it yourself-- lots of good miles will ensue.
