I'm sorry.....not really......everybodies gonna throw popcorn at me....

these engines are super easy to get....alot of people sell them remaned...
cheaper and easier to get than same in 5vz.....

And in theory the new ones should have the short comings addressed.....
like the head gasket eating thing........

    Toyota 3VZE 3.0L V6 Engine Hi-Pro 190HP/210ftlbs - Raptor Engines

its just the single overhead cam thing......paris wont ever want to ride with you....

but they are a simpler, cheaper engine......by almost half..........

$2K and a performance cam?? hah what?? Not sure if the CA smog police would like that though.

I found a bunch of reman engines online pretty easily, as well — like 3 sites in 15 min. My biggest beef with the 3.0 is how slow the thing is. My 3.4 is no rocketship, but its got some getup.

    Yeah but you'd trade 188 hp....for 118.....really....

Really boils down to if you have someone you have confidence in to do the install...

so many things can go wrong.......

My advice would be for her to sell it and get something newer.....
unless you got a plan......girls need reliability.....

a dropped one and a high one
I went like this 22re to a 2rz to a 3rz to a 5v supercharged. Out of all of them the 3z was the pig. They are all great engines though minus the 3.0

Yeah I think the 3rz really pairs up best with a manual.....
2rz/3rz with AT's have always been slow pokes......

these trucks have ridiculously heavy body/frames....
    not like the chevy luv's........
    I've pushed both.....

S10's started the heavy frame race.....
damn chicken tax........its destroyed the light end competition..

Now we got turbo'ed tacoma engines in Tundra's........crzy.....

    Thankyou epa......you guys....are just wonderful.......
can hardly wait to see whats next.............

I'm thinking a laser controlled throttle body.....
that costs $17,000 when it goes out......
    EMP resistant.......

So much 3.0 hate. All it really needs is a decent cam. I bought mine with the blown head gasket, fixed it and it’s been a good engine.

What cam do you have? Do you live in a state w/ smog control? Some initial research shows CA smog will probably pass w/ a performance cam.

That is the tough thing about this engine. All it needs is a cam, but you can’t get the cam….. I’m in Alabama by the way.
