Hi there I have a 2015 Tacoma 4.0L V6 4x4 TRD PRO with almost 80K miles. As the title says, It hesitates when I accelerate. I feel it weaker than usual and the RPMs go way higher than the speed it gives.

I just cleaned the Throttle Body and I'm not sure if it could be the pedal sensor or speed sensor. Does anyone else have this problem or have you fixed it? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the transmission is slipping. Check the fluid

Im high reving and slow shifting also. I will try a tune up after I replace the output seal and missing fluids from leak. Does your car jerk a little after complete stop?

I had the same problem with the shifting before, but replacing what I said stopped it. It’s never jerked, it was just slow in responding. Maybe getting the whole tune up will help your situation.

I don’t think it’s the MAF, my truck is back to normal after cleaning throttle body, new spark plugs and air filter. If it didn’t get fixed that would’ve been one of the next things I looked into. Thanks

Ahh. I usually clean the MAF whenever I clean the throttle body since they’re so close together.

I've had same problem even after cleaning maf, throttle body and changing spark plugs. I am running k&n air filters if that matters. I'm leaning toward replacing fuel injectors unless someone has another suggestion. I feel the hesitation more going uphill btw.

I'm having the same problem even after replacing the MAF and throttle body sensor, PCV valve and spark plugs. I have a K & N air filter so I've cleaned that several times. Never had any codes except for a couple of the o2 sensors so I replaced two of the four. My truck has 212k miles. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!!

The KnN if over oiled can cover the MAF making the truck have those symptoms. I went thru 2 MAF before I took it out. First MAF looked clean but had a small crack in it causing codes and your symptoms.

I'm having the same issues. Truck seems to hesitate when giving gas from a dead stop. Also have hesitation when I'm going uphill. Like most of the others I also have a K&N intake and filter. Going to take it apart tomorrow and clean the MAF and throttle body but was just curious for anybody that was having these same troubles, did you figure out the problem and a solution?

I may be having a very similar issue....haven't started doing any real troubleshooting yet other than simple check of the air filter....and its about time to change spark plugs....but I did find this thread that may be worth looking at.....end result is that it was the fuel pump in this guy's case..

Cleaned the MAF today and the throttle body. All the oil from the K&N it has sucked through over the years had the MAF and throttle body caked with build up. Put everything back together and took it for a test drive and it seems to be more responsive from a dead stop. Will have to see how it does over the next week to tell if cleaning the MAF and throttle body solved the problem or not.

Check the brake switch under the pedal. I've had this a couple times and each time it's cleared itself right after making sure it's twisted in place. Not sure how I do it but I must knock it loose or the seat is not quite tight enough.

What was the result? I have a K/N air filter and am curious because going to be cleaning and oiling my air filter for its next 160k service.

For the guy who lost O2 sensors, they usual go bad as a result of other problem, and your cats can suffer from the same problem that plagued the O2 sensors. Could be fouled plugs, poorly spraying injectors or burning a little oil. Any of those things and possibly some others can screw up an O2 sensor, and replacing the sensor will improve some things over running with a bad one, but it won’t fix the root of the problem, and you’ll need new sensors again in the not too distant future. If the problem also cause a cat to fail, it can end up plugging the exhaust system enough to cause a major drop in power. Again, replacing the cat will help on the short term, but does t fix the root of the problem, and you can end up with another bad cat in the not too distant future.
