Sort of. What are you trying to do? You can put a ‘15 into a ‘08, but you probably can’t put a ‘08 into a ‘15.

Largely the same. Biggest difference is that the 2012+ have the addition of secondary air injection pump.

Every year there are very minor changes within the generation, but yes, they’re the same

Through HP Tuners, it was discovered that there are engine/transmission mapping differences between 05-11 and 12+ trucks as well. My hunch is Toyota needed to remain emissions complaint with an aging platform and de-tuned the powertrain mapping (in addition to adding the SAI system) to do so. Before I had my 2014 HP Tuned, the seat of the pants difference between that truck and my wife's 2006 was pretty apparent, even with the 2006 having over 200k miles.

As Tcomaboy said, there's always subtle changes from year to year. That is the foundation of the Kaizen philosophy that have made Japanese companies like Toyota so successful.

My brother destroyed his 08 engine somehow in Arizona,he found a really nice low miles 15 complete engine,so just wanted too make sure he can use it in his truck.I assume both engines are 1 GRFE.

Yep, several TW members have put a 12-15 V6 in a 05-11 truck. The basics are you use right exhaust header and valve cover from the early motor on the late motor to eliminate the air injection.
