Engine Air Filter - OEM or What?

It looks like an OEM filter costs about $28. I'll pay the money but has anyone found a cheaper (yet quality) option? #17801-0P100.

 

Fram from Walmart is all I use, easy to find, get and price is ok

 

OEM. But, let google or others help you out:

 

I just google'd the PN and saw them for $16. Didn't look at shipping though

The shipping cost is probably due to the box size needed. So if you google and see a great price from a dealership, most of the other dealers that have an online store will have a similar price. See if one is local to you and pick it up for free.

 

Dont mistake the clean sock with a happy sock.

 

$24 from Walmart Online for OEM is the best deal I’ve found so far.

 

The K&N oiled filter was winning it till the end when he tested how well each filter actually stops stuff from passing through. I'll never throw one on a daily driver again.

Is it just me or did he put the K&N in the test rig backwards.

 

It was upside down in the test cube compared to the rest.

I've always used K&N in all my cars for close to 20 years or longer, never had any problem. I'm not sure I buy into the less pleats equals less filtration. Some filters use better quality media to begin with. If my engine blows I'll be sure to let the forum know.

 

Yeah, I've been using K&N for years with no problems. They didn't get as big as they are by making shitty filters.

 

Only thing I've noticed with oiled filters living in a dry climate like AZ is they need to be checked/oiled more frequently as they dry out quicker.

 

I've always used wix air filters. They may be cheaper than oem.

 

I've used K&N filters in the past on some vehicles...never had great luck with them on toyota's. They seem to have a greater habit of fouling the map sensor. Been using wix air filters...seem just as good or better than oem.

 

Marketing got them there. Maserati makes shitty cars, but people buy them.
