Ok. So I put 1"blocks under the leafs to compensate for the rear sag after I replaced my stock leafs from Kansas City Spring. When I replaced the leafs I put Daystar greasable shackles on with a 1.25" lift. So my lift in the rear is a total of 2.25".

The problem is that the ebrake cable is stretched across the top of the leafs now. Is there a trick to the cable? I had to unhook it so the cable wouldn't snap due to the tension so I could drive the truck.

Best solution is to remove the blocks (or overload leaf?) and upgrade the leaf pack for the additional lift that you need.

    Couple of options
    1. Ditch the block and use 2" lift shackle
    2. Ditch the overload and use wheelersoffroad.com progressive mini pack with the shackle you have now for 2 1/2" lift.
    3. Make a custom add a leaf out of your factory pack that goes in as a 3rd leaf I think is where I put mine for about 1 1/2" lift.it can only fit in one spot and I can give you the measurements.

Do you have any adjustment left at the intermediate lever??

Maybe you can get enough to use the e brake.

Make up some short extension cables Some cable and a few cable clamps.

There problem is the emergency brake cables are to short after adding the blocks

Drill a hole through the blocks for the cable!!!

What do any of these answers have to do with the OP's cable being too short ? He didn't ask about how to lift his truck. It doesn't matter how you go about getting the lift the end result is that your axle / drum are X distance away point A to point B...it doesn't matte if he spends $1k for a custom leaf pack or puts a piece of fire wood in there X is the same.

Well for one, the E brake cable shouldn't be going over the leafs anyhow, it goes under regardless of blocks or shackles. Like this!20150913_144907.jpg Two, if you were gonna buy new leaf packs why not just get some that add lift instead of trying to use cheap lift blocks and shackles. I was simply trying to make him aware of better options including one that is pretty much free other than some time.

LOL...so you knew what he had probably routed that wrong but instead of giving him that info you skipped it and decided to tell him three other ways he should have done his lift that he already bought and installed and is probably perfectly happy with ?

Actually no, I have just been thinking about it and I didn't remember dealing with my cable at all other than bolting th e shock up. That's when I went back and looked at pictures. I just don't know how they got the cable that far out of place. Geesh, I'm not that much of an ass, it just dawned on me.

I'm assuming that the OP's axle is similar to mine, in that the e-brake cable goes ABOVE the leaf spring pack, like this:

I'm not sure which models have the brake cable going underneath and which have it going over.
If the OP's are like the above picture, then the block would have lifted the spring pack up too far, causing it to push up on the cable. Not good. This is just one reason why a block lift is not recommended. I am surprised that there was less than 1" of space between the top of the pack and the e-brake cable.

Yea I figured if it was like mine theres no way to get it wrong and go over, he says his is a 02 and mine is 03. It would definitely interfere though.

Easiest option would be to remove the blocks and replace lost lift with aal. The block raises the pack up into path of cable. This isnt a problem on newer models where cable is routed bellow axle.

This won't necessarily solve the issue. Yes the aal will be thinner than the block, but the cable still may hit the leaf pack.
OP get under there and measure how much clearance you need. You can get the specs on the aal thickness and compare it to your block.

    will
will be nowhere near the thickness of block (if replacement pack is an oem replacement with 3 or even 4 leafs) aals are well used without this issue.

This is true for '03-'04 (and MAYBE '02) trucks but not earlier ones. My '04 is setup like this and gave me no problems when I installed my lift.

This is the setup through '01 (and MAYBE '02) trucks but not later ones. My son's '01 is setup like this, with the cable is stretched across the top of his Dakar leafs (with no blocks installed). Would like to see REAL potential solutions...

People have extended the arms the cable pulls on. Not a hard task but not a job some want to do.

There was just a thread that had this info the other day, I can't find it for some reason. But a small piece of angle iron and a bolt is all that's needed to extend the arm to raise up your cable... Works perfectly.
